Kiss – Live at Anaheim Stadium 8/20/1976, you can hear Ace Frehley TAPPING during his guitar solo at the 29:40 mark in the song Cold Gin.This would be the Kiss Destroyer tour. A year before Van Halen came out. Also, I remember reading an article from Circus or Creem magazine in 1979-80 that Eddie and Alex came to Kiss's soundcheck on the Lovegun tour and Eddie got the opportunity to play Ace's rig. It was so loud that he could barely contain himself.

I love this kind of stuff! Those guys were lucky enough to be a part of the biggest musical revolution in modern time! The 70's were insane when you look back at it.

It does make sense and evens out terrifically. Gene Simmons discovers Van Halen, Eddie, as a student of all music, gained some knowledge and a lot of respect from Ace. Win fucking Win…
    ✨👁️👁️✨
    RIP Ace and Eddie

I was never crazy about Kiss but I listened to them because my brother really liked them. As far as Ace as a guitar player he was alright but not that talented. Eddie was a far better guitar player.

He told nothing but the truth he said I started it but Eddie mastered it i heard in a interview from his mouth ace was quite open in saying he doesn’t think he’s the best but he definitely felt it and gave brilliant exciting to watch git man and none of these players give a s there all freinds ace never said he invented either he was just in one of the biggest bands of the seventies that incorporated it in some of the concerts f if he s all crap why was he interviewed in the first place ace was the most exciting to watch maybe not the most technically best peace and love lloydy

I really don't believe it myself.
Eddie was an unknown therefore he was just another dude in the audience
So why would Ace have memory of some dude in the audience watching his every move when that was the norm norm was everybody in the audience watching their every move?. . He seems to think it was Eddie watching his every move, 😂

Edwina got it from Randy and maybe Ace
Mamoth used to go watch Quiet Riot
Randy didn't have time for that as he was constantly teaching either before or after.
    Story done!

I did notice that Ace Frehley did the tapping thing (with a pick) in his solo before the first Van Halen album came out. I don't think that's where Eddie got the idea though. Roy Smeck had a pretty advanced finger tapping technique on his ukulele back in the 1930, you can see it on YouTube.

    Who cares
Plenty of Neville Nobodies can paint on canvas, but you remember Van Gogh, Michelangelo and Da Vinci
Edward Van Halen will be remembered as the greatest player and guitar pioneer that ever lived
The rest just scrawled on the canvas
