Living on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, Thanksgiving was the only holiday that seemed… well, weird. Xmas, Easter, mom's day, we spent with my dads sister and family over the river (that's the vernacular round here, only since Trump has it become over the border).
Thanksgiving in Canada is in October – naturally because of harvest was earlier. The weird thing, though? The Pilgrims. I'm not sure I know what Pilgrims are. Even our most whitewashed Thanksgiving tales didn't include them. And what's with the belt buckles?
Along those lines, someone from India once asked me why pictures of school stuff always included an apple along with books, etc. Foid for thought

So many great memories here.
Thanksgiving was special. The smell of the food cooking would wake me up EARLY that morning. Although in our family, we prepped much of it days before, the turkey and a few other things were prepared the morning of and it smelled SO good.
Back then, NBC covered just the Macy’s Parade. BUT I miss the CBS coverage. They not only covered the Macy’s Parade, but would also covered parades around the country, like Honolulu, and Philadelphia and the stars of their TV shows hosted their coverage. During the 80s, Linda Gray & Larry Hagman were in the CBS bubble in NYC for the Macy’s Parade coverage and they were SO entertaining. 😅
I don’t know if I blinked and missed it, but during the showing of various Thanksgiving episodes, two more funny ones:
The Cosby Show: when they kept sending Cliff out in the rain to the store. 😂😂😂
And Living Single Thanks for Giving. 😅

I overcooked the turkey. Everyone claimed to love it, but it was definitely dry. You couldn't even carve it because it just fell apart.
