On the Thursday edition of the ICT Newscast, it’s almost time for the Grammy’s. Indigenous composers, musicians, and industry experts tell us why they’re expecting a lack of native people there. This award season has been a groundbreaking time for indigenous representation in film and television. However, there are no native nominees for the upcoming 66th Grammys Awards.

ICT’s Paris Wise spoke with experts in the music industry on why that is and what needs to change.

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian is a mainstay institution and resource for educating the world about native people of the western hemisphere. It operates three facilities, which includes two in the D.C. area and one in New York City. Cynthia Chavez Lamar is the director of NMAI.

A one-of-a-kind event is slated for Santa Fe, New Mexico. the experience is promised to be eclectic–featuring neon and abalone shells. Amy Denet Deal is the founder and CEO of the Navajo fashion brand, 4kinship.
