I just think it's weird, every single man I have ever heard of. Wants to start a podcast, I emphasize on man. Guys why do you want a podcast I don't understand. I know there are women podcasters. But all my guy friends say I want to start a podcast. And my girlfriends never say such things. It's like the men's dream I don't understand. I'm a man and I don't understand.

A podcast is simply the form of content that has the be ratio of effort to reward. You don’t need to put in that much time, effort, or money to start one and you don’t need a huge following to make ok money. Obviously, you CAN sink a lot of time effort and money into a podcast but you don’t have to (at first at least). My favorite podcast, Well There’s Your Problem, started with absolutely garbage mic quality and they had yet to figure out their group dynamic. Now they have passed 100k subscribers on YouTube and have a decent Patreon. They have kept the aesthetic of low production values but the mic quality has improved a ton and their group chemistry is great.

    Ola Gabbi!
Have you explored the parallels between radio media and podcasts? Are people creating a preference between the two?

I would rather turn on a podcast than the radio, as an example. And supplement with a curated playlist.

"Not everyone needs a podcast." I can agree with you that much in part. However, everyone needs someone to connect with or at least to feel like they're connected. Even if that connection is with someone or some people you don't actually know or could meet up with in person. But everyone needs to feel listened to or feel relatable. It's a type of cheaper unsolicited (although it's definitely solicited because there's ads) therapy.

I wish this was a more funnier comment than a realistic one. And yes, I have considered and I'm still considering on making a podcast. LOL

(But if not a podcast, I'll make something with audio or video with audio of me talking either way). I have thoughts and I don't know who else to share them with. So to the Internets! A w a y !

We started off as monkeys hooting from the trees, and not much has changed — now we have podcasts and YouTube channels, and we're still hooting with technology. Totally natural.🐒🐒😄😄

I bought a Razer Seiren X years ago because a friend of mine and I were talking about starting a podcast. Shortly after, he backed out and I shelved the idea. Years later I was looking to take control of my future, I had no clue what to do, a boss told me that I talk too much and I agreed. So the idea is off the shelf, dusted off and dressed up for a new purpose and I will be recording soon.

honestly i think podcast is weird cause its both this and then also audio storytelling (stuff like the magnus archives or welcome to night vale) that are being made and consumed for drastically different reasons and i am into the latter but not the former so weird cognitive dissonance (idk i lost track of thoughts)

I used to listen to podcasts. I started when my IRL (ie. not parasocial ew) friends had a regular podcast. Listening to it felt like hanging out with my friends, because they're actually my friends, without me needing to like say anything. Total introversion life hack. This prompted me to listen to other podcasts as well. But, then my friends ended their podcast, and I just kind of stopped listening to all podcasts as well. Turns out I prefer listening to music most of the time.

Day 1 of trying to watch at least one entire YouTube video without doing anything else.
No scrolling while listening to the video, No playing games while listening to the video, and No FOLDING LAUNDRY

Craving attention and being full of yourself/thinking that you are special isn't narcissism. That's just vanity and being egotistical. Narcissists only care about themselves and their feelings and lack the ability to comprehend or empathize with other people and their feelings and will relentlessly torment you with no remorse for their own personal gain. A lot of times they have very low self esteem or wallow in their own self pity thinking that they have it so bad or that everyone treats them so badly but actually they are the ones that treat everyone around them HORRIBLY and they're just facing the consequences of their own actions and feel sorry for themselves because of it. A narcissist will cheat on you and then act like the victim when you break up with them. I see people get it wrong all the time. Narcissists are abusive, mean, and manipulative. They the most despicable evil cold-hearted monsters to ever roam the earth. If you ever get involved with a real narcissist you'll know it. I see people say that their ex was a narcissist and then they describe them and I'm just sitting there slackjawed staring at them thinking "you know nothing of hell" 😑

Praise. Wanting to be praised is the most human thing that I can think of. Good intention or bad, wanting to be praised is normal. In telling opinions or making jokes on something you barely have to commit to isn't easy way to get praised, right?

I got into podcasts after listening to Serial. Though I listened to a lot of BBC Radio 4 online catch up prior to that which I guess is similar.

But the main reason I got so into them is doing a lot of mindnumbing data entry jobs where I was thankfully allowed to wear earphones.
