I think it should also be pointed out that certain types of insurance will punish you for using them, meaning you probably will lose more money than you could ever “get back”. I guess only a statistician could figure out if any of this is worth paying money into.

Person: “Oh well if you don’t give me my money when something bad happens I might just shoot you.”

    Insurance guy: “Oh my god!”

Person:”Yeah I might just walk up to you and shoot you.”

Insurance guy: “Well that would be illegal and some guys would put you in a room.”

Person: “Well given my life would be awful anyway I wouldn’t be losing anything.”

Insurance guy: “Oh but uh… but then people would hate you.”

    Person: “Eh. I doubt that.”

Insurance guy: “Shooting people is bad though.”

Person: “Something tells me the public will be on my side.”

I think it’s kinda weird how you can spend decades paying insurance and never use it and if you miss one payment by a day or two and something happens they won’t cover you. It’s just weird how it’s like paying a bill for something but the thing isn’t guarantee that you actually get the thing.. or if you move to another company or something you don’t build up any credit or anything like that. There’s no incentive to paying more or brand loyalty for the same coverage. Why go with your company over another one? Why stay with your company? What do you offer me as a benefit to paying you instead of a different company? I could start paying today and use it tomorrow or pay my whole life and never use it. I wouldn’t feel so conflicted about this if it was a public healthcare system where ik I’m helping cover other people like me who need it. I’d gladly pay for a pool that’s covering everyone. Because it’s consistent across the board and we all have the same coverage and access and nobody has any medical debt. Now that’s something I’d gladly pay taxes for. But paying so someone can get rich off the fact that I might need medical treatment that’s too expensive for me someday is just predatory and greedy and immoral. And 99 percent of the time it’s just paying for a month of service you don’t use at all. It’s almost never cheaper for people to have insurance overall because then there wouldn’t be profit in it. We’re paying them all this fucking money anyway it might as well go to helping other people who need it rather than someone’s pockets!!
