On Today’s Episode:

If you think you really understand Alzheimer’s, think again! Alzheimer’s is scary to witness up close and personal and even scarier when you consider that anyone who’s had Covid-19 is at an increased risk for developing Alzheimer’s!

How many people in your immediate life does that impact?

This conversation is for the people who’ve had Covid-19, people who want to think sharper, and people who are worried about developing Alzheimer’s.

An astounding 45 million people currently living in America will die with Alzheimer’s disease and according to Dr Dale Bredesen, this number dwarfs the high rates of death we just experienced with Covid-19, it’s just a slower process.

This special episode is a panel discussion with two of the world’s leading experts on Alzheimer’s, Dr. Dale Bredesen and Dr. Richard Johnson.

Dr. Bredesen is an international neurodegenerative expert and the author of, The First Survivors of Alzheimers, a book that spotlights first person accounts of his patients that not only survived Alzheimers, but who got back a second life to live with meaning and fulfillment.

Dr. Richard Johnson, the fructose expert, wrote the book, Nature Wants Us To Be Fat. His focus and research points to the connection between Alzheimer’s disease and sugar.

This conversation between experts is enlightening and has a few points you’ll want to take note of to further discuss with your healthcare professional. Dr. Bredesen reveals why a complete assessment of your brain, blood levels and more needs to be completed as early as 40 years old to start taking preventative measures to protect yourself from Alzheimer’s.

Alzheimer’s has been referred to as type 3 diabetes and both experts agree that this disease is an insulin resistant state of the brain. What can you start doing today to lower your risks and the risks of the people you love?

QUOTES:

“My generation, the old timers now, is the last generation that should fear Alzheimer’s, it is literally becoming optional” -Dale Bredesen

“Features of metabolic syndrome which is obesity, diabetes, insulin resistance, all of these are risk factors for Alzheimer’s.” -Richard Johnson

“Sugar and high fructose corn syrup are two major culprits that probably have a role in the cause of Alzheimer’s.” -Richard Johnson

“So many people get this wrong, a keto diet versus a plan rich keto diet, it makes all the difference. For brain health you want a plant rich ketogenic diet with appropriate periods of fasting.” -Dale Bredesen

“The hypothesis that we published is that fructose production in the brain may have a major role in causing Alzheimer’s.” -Richard Johnson

“When you’re talking about Alzheimer’s you’re also talking about mental performance.” -Dale Bredesen

“People who developed Covid-19 are at increased risk for developing Alzheimer’s.” -Dale Bredesen

I'm sorry, but in the first five minutes, Dr Richard Johnson exposes himself an a complete IDIOT!!!!!! First he says he doesn't want to vilify sugar. WHAT!!!!????? Then he tries to excuse it by saying, "Sugar is in everything, and hard to avoid, unless you do a keto diet"… SO THEN THE OBVIOUS ANSWER IS NOT TO GIVE IN BECAUSE IT'S EVERYWHERE, BUT TO DO THE FUCKING KETO/CARNIVORE DIET, MORON!!!!! OMG this guy is stupid on steroids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey Dr. Simpleton, if sugar and HFCS are the two major components leading to Alzheimer disease, THEN YES YOU SHOULD STOP EATING SUGAR, PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How can this guy sit there and say these things, and not realize just how idiotic he sounds???? I can't even watch any more of this. Tom sounded well educated, well schooled on the topic and reasonable with his questioning. But I just can't listen to that so called doctor any longer. He is the PERFECT example of why I despise doctors in general these days… There are exceptions, but they are few and far between.

Most plants are inflammatory and nutrient leeching. Vegans are fat from eating too many carbs, or skinny fat and lacking nutrients. It only works for a minute

He's totally out of touch. Sugar should be demonized if you don't want disease. He is ignorant of the most up to date research. Not ignorant but a liar. No respect. The podcaster is a grifter because knows better and this interviewee, I won't call him a doctor. He is a podcast grifter as well. Two grifters selling something other than truth. They will get rich while people suffer and die. All they care about is their egos and money.

This is all great to know but how do I get my doctor to do all these preventative tests on me and know what I need to ask for? And I need to know what I should be eating I'm confused already 😂😮 but thanks for the information it's better to be prepared and I can research my diet which I can control ❤

Root cause of Alzheimers is (my hypothesis) transfats found in commercially baked goods, coffee creamers, chewing gum , fried vegetable oil used to fry chips, pizza bases, tart bases …and similar.

So eat tonnes of natural fats ( avocado, olive oil, any oil but never heated, nuts walnuts, any nuts, oily fish salmon etc. AND STOP ALL above transfats list.

My work to model in software , the adverse impact of transfats in the brain cell fat membrane i.e. the additional hydrogen atom and the trans v cis shape fat molecule has not yet concluded.

(Medical researchers unfortunately do not have the skill set to code the software.)

But I have already reversed my diabetes type 2 ( in 2012) based on above rules ( artificial trans fats inhibited insulin receptors in the cell fat membrane.)

Alzheimer's Disease is due to the same root cause. It is called diabetes type 3

BAH…. generic snake oil. The last 6 deaths in my family are all from Alzheimer's . REVERSIBLE is not a word any doctor has used when discussing the matter. Diabetes is reversible as is my shirt and sometimes my car.One can substitute any disease and say the same thing. Sugar bad, proper diet and being active good. Resources, access and your doctor are key . I am 53 and NEXT , my mom recently passed and she was hit hard and fast, then backed over. She was 57 when we able to connect the dots . DID NOT LISTEN LONG AS IT SEEMED LIKE A STUDIO PRODUCTION HERBALIFE ADVERTISEMENT YOU MAY SEE AT 3 AM. YOUR TRANSCRIPT MAKES NO MENTION OF "GENETIC" .

    TRULY ENLIGHTENING QUOTE, PROFOUND.

I know lots of people who are healthy and got early stages or dementia in there 50s. It isnt because of sugar, diabetes and overweight. I love Soda's but only have one can a day. Everything is to do with moderation. If you have a doughnut everyday, its all good. But there are people who have 3 doughnuts a day. MODERATION. You dont just get diabetes from one pepsi or one chocolate lol its the build up of it. Exercise helps reduce it too.

Excellent synopsis! Dennis you are wonderful! You really nailed the greed and the selfishness of the LA City Council and LA County Supervisors who only care about keeping their power! Their cushy jobs, retirement packages and other perks, which the tax payers have been paying for years, only contribute to the vast waste of our tax money just like the multi millions paid to their "non-profit" cronies to solve "homelessness!" The numbers of homeless have swelled under these incompetent "public servants"! Instead of conning the public with more propositions to scam more tax payer money why don't they go after the drug cartels and use confiscated cartel money to pay for the mental illness and addiction the cartel pushers have caused?!? I have lived in Southern California all my life, but now at age 70, along with my daughters are selling and moving to Texas where owners still have most of their property rights! Thank you Dennis for all your great advice and wisdom navigating the treacherous laws and edicts of the Los Angeles potentates!

If your loved one has been diagnosed or labelled with Alzheimer's, dementia or, Parkinson's etc. it might be reversible. Have their methylmalonic acid tested. If your B12 gets low at the tissue level, it can cause methylmalonic acid to rise, which blocks enzymes in the Urea cycle that convert ammonia to urea. When the ammonia gets high, it causes dementia. A serum B12 test won't suffice, they must have a methylmalonic acid test. When M acid is elevated, it means the B12 tissue level is low. Also look at their medications. Many old people are prescribed incontinence drugs, which cause dementia, drugs such as Oxybutynine. Most doctors don't know this. Here's another thing to check, Free copper. Many people are born with a defective ATP7B copper binding gene defect, which causes free or unbound copper to build up over their lifetime. They'll live a relatively normal life since their blood brain barrier BBB is intact, but as people age the BBB starts to deteriorate and becomes permeable, causing the toxic free copper to enter the brain. Why is Alzheimer's often associated with T2 diabetes? It's because free copper also causes insulin resistance. Free copper oxidizes the cells and prevents glucose from entering. The reason Metformin works is because it's a free copper chelator. The free copper test code at the lab corp I use in Oklahoma is 279071. This is not a serum copper test, this test will measure the amount of free or unbound copper contained in the serum copper. The serum copper consists of bound and unbound copper. A normal unbound or free copper should be 0-10 mcg/dl. If your loved one has an elevated free copper, start giving them 50 mg of zinc picolinate one hour before meals without food. 500 mg of B5 twice a day, 1 mg molybdenum twice a day, 1000 mg vit C 5 times per day, 8 mg manganese once a day, 100 mg B6 2 times a day, vitamin A and Vitamin E. Also give them 500 mg of curcumin twice a day. Curcumin will also chelate free copper and it also acts as gene therapy that partially corrects the defective ATP7B copper binding gene. There are 600 different ATP7B mutations found so far and most of them are neurological in nature. I researched this shortly after the genome was mapped and the discovery of free copper and the ATP7B gene. People with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, ALS, Tourette's, T2 diabetes, and Schizophrenia were tested and the majority were shown to have an elevated free copper level. Brains of Alzheimer's patients have been tested and shown to have an extremely low zinc and B5. It's because free copper is an antagonist to both of these things and depletes the brain and body of them. A usage patent was applied for with the FDA to treat these free copper disorders with a compound called ammonium tetrathiomolybdate (TM), but the FDA never approved it. It is much faster at decoppering and can bring someone to a non toxic state in 8 weeks, whereas the vitamins and minerals I mentioned will take on average 9-12 months. It TM is not available, zinc and the other things should be used. Don't use the old copper chelating drug penacillimine, because it's to aggressive and doesn't bind the free copper. It'll mobilize free copper and flood the brain with massive amounts of this toxic stuff, often leaving the person in a vegetative state. Zinc and the other things mentioned, are primers for metallothionein in intestinal cells. When you start taking zinc, after 12 days they form metallothionein and start absorbing free copper from the bloodstream. Since the intestinal cells turnover every 8 days and new ones are made, the old copper laden cells slough off in the stool. Once you get the cycle going, every 8 days you'll be getting rid of free copper. How does it pull it from the brain? When the blood copper gets low, the body pulls it from the brain and tissues. Arthritis is another thing that is caused by free copper and chelation therapy will also pull it from the joints and reverse arthritis. An elevated uric acid is another thing caused by free copper. The reason allopurinol lowers uric acid is because it's a free copper chelator.

It cannot be as simple as "glucose is bad" as the body converts most foods to glucose as fuel. It has to be sugar/fructose that has been added to food in the last 50-70 years.
Alziemers wasnt plaguing humans and increasing in prevalence in the 19th century or the early 20th century. Its a modern disease – isnt it? People were eating fruit and vegetables and bread before Alziemers became a phenomenon

1:54 – "there are people who LACK this enzyme – but it's quite rare" – i misunderstood… i thought that he was talking about humanity lost the enzyme and that led to them being more prone to fatty liver.. type 2 diabetes etc…. Did i miss something?
Insead of LACK… should it have been HAVE???

That was exceptionally fascinating to hear about though.

    November 6, 2025 at 4:26 pm

Just a lot of possible hypotheses and theories, no real information here.
How do we measure all these molecules in the human body and exactly what quantity is too much sugar / frutose / glycogen? Everything is because of "Insulin", the new buzz word of the 21 century.

  14. @householdone7559

    November 6, 2025 at 4:26 pm

This is all very interesting but i'm a tad suspicious of both of these guys from some of the things they came out with…
Richard at the start was stumbling as to why not to try to get rid of all sugars… it sounded like — it's ok just dont go overboard.

And Dale with his covid 19 stuff… didn't mention whether the ppl had been injected or not though…. which is a vital statistic.

  15. @householdone7559

    November 6, 2025 at 4:26 pm

Not sure how that "if you've had covid you are at higher risk of alzheimers" really plays out.
Many ppl on the planet caught it.
There have been links though, (would need to go find the video with the journal to demonstrate) between the 'vaccines' and alzheimers.
Why would covid increase your chances?
    Does the flu?
    Do other coronaviruses?
That kind of thing i'm a bit skeptical about i must say.

  16. @44hawk28

    November 6, 2025 at 4:26 pm

Glucose and even mentioned salt. And all these things having to do with those reactors. When I'm not hearing is that since the change in the types of fat we are being exposed to, primarily seed oils, or what is called vegetable oils because vegetables don't actually contain oil. What is the possibility that we can shift back and go back to facts that are not trying to Target our cognitive constructions?

  17. @44hawk28

    November 6, 2025 at 4:26 pm

Very early on, the discussion here takes a turn in trying to focus on specific items within the diet when the overall diet can dictate metabolic mechanisms that make the intake of glucose almost a side note rather than a problem. There are ways that most people who are relatively healthy can consume a diet and an activity level which will allow their bodies to burn and utilize glucose and these other risk elements more effectively and that's what we're here to determine.
What works, at least in general, and what doesn't seem to work?

I’m watching this video today as I just received a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s for my beloved aunt. I’m still in shock and my coping mechanism is seeking knowledge. Her doctor gave me a list of tests that they wanted to do. I pity the poor lady. I want to build a schedule/ activities for her to improve her life for as long as she lives

When Bredesen says MCI is Metastatic Cancer and then immediately says more than 80 of them will improve. I have to admit that He is taking his own interests into consideration. He's a Charlatan ! why? Because in reality many people with MCI, stay the same and some will improve automatically but he says Metastatic Cancer ! why? Fear and wonder ! Fear and Hope ! a powerful combination to get your money for his stupid cognoscopy. I hate these kind of men.

  20. @lincolony

    November 6, 2025 at 4:26 pm

Experts have raised concerns about the scientific rigor behind Dr. Bredesen's methods and protocols. His approach lacks large-scale, placebo-controlled clinical trials, which are the gold standard for medical research. Without these trials, it's difficult to definitively prove the efficacy of his methods
The ReCODE and PreCODE programs, which include the online assessment, can be quite expensive. Critics argue that the high costs can be prohibitive for many individuals and question whether the financial burden is justified given the lack of conclusive evidence supporting the protocols' effectiveness.
Some users have found that the test's emphasis on speed over accuracy may not be a fair measure of cognitive function. This can result in misleading outcomes, such as a diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or early Alzheimer's based more on test performance under pressure than on actual cognitive health.
There is also concern about the commercial aspect of the tests and related treatments. Critics argue that the high costs associated with the full protocol, including expensive supplements and subscription fees, may not be justified given the lack of conclusive evidence. This commercial angle can make it challenging to discern the objective efficacy of the assessments from their marketing

Overall, while some individuals may find value in these tests and the broader protocol, the general consensus among critics is that more rigorous scientific validation is needed to substantiate the claims made about their effectiveness in diagnosing and treating cognitive decline.

Thanks Tom ! Based on the discussion, isn't the underlying reason for Alzheimer's / Dementia a low functioning pancreas, liver etc. over time, not like when we were in out teens or 20s? and when carbohydrates and sugar in the blood have become a danger? Yes, stress, lack of exercise, poor sleep and cognitive decline due to lack of brain challenges (using calculators and GPS) are a danger. Dr Bredesen has shown that mushrooms, turmeric, extra virgin olive oil are very helpful.

Isn't uric acid also serving as anti-oxidant? From somewhere else I read human body purposely make uric acid, just like making cholesterol. So Uric acid is not really a bad thing. Wish the experts can clarify this.
