Like autism, the word "trauma" is definitely overused in popular speech, but the diagnosis of actual trauma disorders is still very much under-diagnosed and misunderstood. I have C-PTSD and like Neal, I can very easily have a sense of humor about my trauma. I was even able to joke about it at the time it happened because that's how I roll. …but that's just a coping mechanism. I'm still a deeply traumatized person who deals with the disorder every single day. I can joke all day about how I'm basically a cat because any sudden loud noise will give me a panic attack, but I still have to work very hard not to have that panic attack.
The fact that Neal was able to "get over" his trauma is awesome for him but there's a massive difference between having some traumas in your life and having so much of it that it literally changes your brain structure. Once you have PTSD, there's no "getting over" that. Yes, it's annoying when people use the word trauma for something that's really just an inconvenience or bad day, but if that's the price we have to pay for being able to openly discuss trauma in society, then I'm ok with that.
..and as someone who is also on the spectrum, I feel exactly the same way about autism. Part of the reason that "everyone is on the spectrum nowadays" is because of people who self diagnose on Tik Tok for attention, but the MAIN reason is that it was criminally underdiagnosed and misunderstood until very recently.

The word is definitely underused, so many people have trauma and don't acknowledge it talk about it

''Illiterate farmers! So where are they supposed to get all this emotional intelligence from?''
Comics whose only job once was to juggle for the King are now the great thinkers of our time.
Like Chappelle; a parody of his own 'Ja Rule joke'.

Love you guys.
Most trauma is never really talked about until after YEARS of unpacking. That's sort of the nature of trauma…
