16:12 the appeal of kik is the melding of the SW world with child/teen interest. Kids are the most predominant group of consumers of of engagement. And gambling and Sw want to advertise as close to innocuous spaces as possible. Thats what kik wants to exploit, as long as its legal.

I’ve met the founders of Kik. I used it with friends as a teen. I’ve also used it for many dark sexting convos with strangers when I was 18. I never shared face or talked to someone more than 3 times (usually no more than once). So I got out relatively okay, but I’m sure I missed a lot of red flags that I would catch now that I have more experience. It’s definitely an app where people feel they can say whatever, and I can see how that environment leads to this video. Stay strong y’all 🤘

Kik and those public group chats were so popular that I accidentally found a girl from my freshman class on there back in HS and we became friends from there! A lot of time spend on this app as a closeted gay teen back in the day, it's so wild thinking back to it. I forgot truly how big a part this was in many of our lives!

kik is such a fucked up app im glad I havent used it in years and im currently 24. I remember having it in middle school and little bit during hs. I also warn people to stay off of this app, I was dumb and stupid I used to catfish people and they sent pics to me I was 15 early 16. (Im a guy btw) I was seeing a lot of vids and photos of ladies pretty much inappropriate things like sexual stuff. I thought it was cool due to me being currious but then realizing it was not right and logged out of it. One thing I regret was not reporting it… But one thing I'm so glad that I never stumbled upon anything INSANE and that could've scarred me… But Damn this app does bring a lot of bad memories. For those affected I hope it you find peace and know there is good in world. Sorry I just don't have any where to vent, because right now im just beating myself and thinking I was a bad person. going through mental sucks…hope all is well everyone…..

I had a kik account so that I could communicate with my friends in high school and I got weird messages basically telling me that I would enjoy some intimate things which made me feel creeped out. And I asked my friends if it was common for my friends and they said yes. Thankfully I blocked them.

A guy I’ve known since we were teenagers has recently been arrested for sending cp on Kik. We weren’t close but ran with a lot of the same circles so we would run into each other from time to time. I had no idea and apparently neither did anyone who was close to him. It shocked and enraged us all.

The amount of times I had to block people, AS A CHILD, that I thought wanted to be friends with me on mmos after they asked if I had kik is ridiculous. One time I even downloaded kik and made an account to talk with an mmo friend, just to immediately be asked for nudes. Sent them a photo of trash and immediately blocked them and deleted my account. Anytime someone asked if I had kik after that was an immediate block
