Extreme have returned after 15 years of silence. I was VERY excited when I heard they’d released a new single called Rise, particularly as I am such a huge fan of Nuno Bettencourt. He has to be one of the best guitarist of all time.

I like how Nuno gives Brian May his respect and puts him on his list of top guitar players. Recently Nuno acknowledged 15 yr old Taj Farrant. I know I'm not going to get this exactly right but he said Taj is a mix of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eddie Van Halen with Michael Jordan’s fingers. It's easy to find. Most every guitar magazine wrote an online article about it. He was blown away by Taj's live solo of his song Mumma Raised a Man. I've been to a couple of Taj's shows and have tickets for a couple more this summer. He's a performer that feels the notes he's playing and he takes you on the journey with him. You don't want it to end and you're on a natural high after his shows. He's a really nice kid too. His parents are amazing and they keep his feet on the ground. His audience hasn't been the youngest crowd but he's starting to attract a lot younger fan base. Check him out. He's amazing!
yeah, he's a great guitar player but the band sounds like nothing special. it's just coworker music, but they happen to have the best guitar player in the world. they sound like every band thats ever played at the local bar for bike night.
trivial point of order on Cherone stepping into David Lee Roth's shoes, Roth was long gone by the time Cherone came in; he stepped into Hagar's shoes, nearly 15 years after Roth.

Can't stand this guys videos. He is a horrible guitarist, and he cuts his example videos every 2-3 seconds, so his examples wash into his constant noise.

Oh, I don't know. He sounds like any other Eddie copy in a cover band. I don't think he's underrated, think he's about where he should be.

Extreme started out in 1985 with Nuno and Gary Cherone, both had been in bands since the late 70s/early 80s.
