Grand Traverse County Sheriff shares details of Walmart mass stabbing
Munson Healthcare says seven of the 11 injured in a stabbing at the Traverse City Walmart on Saturday evening are in ‘fair condition.’ Four remain in serious condition, none are in critical condition.
“Our dedicated team of physicians, surgeons, nurses, clinicians, and support staff remain focused on providing a healing environment for all those affected by this tragic incident. Their unwavering commitment and compassion are a testament to the strength and resilience of our healthcare community. Additionally, we are working on providing additional emotional support for our employees in light of this incident,” the hospital said in a statement.
In a press conference at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael Shea said the suspect is a 42-year-old man who was not injured. The weapon involved appears to be a ‘folding knife’, according to officials.
Shea said investigators believe the man acted alone and said there is no indication there are additional suspects.
The suspect was described as a Michigan resident, but Sheriff Shea would not go into more detail.
Based on information at this time, Sheriff Shea said it appears the victims were attacked at random.

What's the point of the sheriff's press conference when he withholds information we have already seen from other sources.
1 It is a LIE "there was help from a citizen." A group of citizens all worked together to subdue the suspect. Police showed up when the suspect was already subdued. It is more accurate to say "there was help from the police" to take the suspect in custody AFTER citizens worked together to end the threat. Don't try and steal credit sheriff.
2 It definitely appears as if the suspect was a homeless person. He was filthy, wearing dirty ill fitting clothes.
3 WHY release his age, but withhold his identity? This kind of BS makes people lose faith in authority.
