What If the Moon Exploded?

What If | September 8, 2025

Is it a meteor shower? Space debris? No, it’s something much, much worse. Our nearest neighbor is a full Moon no more. The Moon exploded and splintered into millions of fragments. Enormous lunar rocks are hurtling toward Earth. Could this wipe us off the face of the planet? How could the Moon explode in the first place? And if we do survive, how would losing the Moon change life as we know it?

NASA Explores Putting Nuclear Reactor On Moon

    August 25, 2025

The acting administrator of NASA, Sean Duffy, wants a nuclear reactor on the moon by 2030. His directive says the first country to have a reactor could β€œdeclare a keep-out zone which would significantly inhibit the United States.” The reactor will need to generate at least 100 kilowatts of electrical power β€” about enough for 80 U.S. households. China and Russia have plans for a nuclear reactor at a proposed joint base near the moon’s south pole.

So let's say hypothetically, I was a mad, evil scientist that just so happened to have access to an old laboratory in space that just so happens to have a laser attached to it. Now let's say if this laser was to fire and hit the moon, blowing up half of it, what would be the aftermath?

Actually this did actually happen almost. a nuke got detonated on the moon for an experiment for scientists. But it didn't go as it thought it would. The moon Actually nearly blew. And if it did happen…..Life wouldn't be on earth for the next few billion years. and Earth did try to become habitable again….The sun would already be a red giant. or White dwarf. But if life WERE able to survive. The earth they know wouldn't be as beautiful as it was anymore. It just would be a molten hellish place…
