Please Don’t Destroy | The Journey of an SNL Sketch from Pitch to Air | Working It Out Podcast
This week, Please Don’t Destroy returns to the podcast a year and a half after originally coming on. Since then, Mike and the boys have started a monthly improv show called “Please Don’t Birbiglia” at UCB. The group talks about what it’s like to improvise together, the unsparing roasts PDD did of Mike when they opened for him at the Beacon, and the creation of PDD’s Jon Hamm pizza sketch—from Monday’s pitch in Lorne’s office to airing live on SNL. Plus, the unlikely thing that shows up in more than one PDD member’s Instagram algorithm.

Around 8 minutes, when Mike stretches up, look at his shirt. The button just under the top button isn't buttoned, so his shirt sort of separates giving us a peep of…something. But, it does go to the point of the guys saying Mike just wears whatever. And I love that about him!

Anyone that enjoys this video of the pitch Mondays should read the book LORNE. Got it from the library and before it goes into Lorne's history it starts out with a good chunk about what happens on that Monday. Jonah Hill was the host and everything you just heard PDD say goes into depth a but. I hope the book keeps going this way.

Jon Hamm was incredible in the pizza sketch. His timing and the subtlety of his acting really made a great script work.
The whole skit rested on his transition from clueless blowhard, to man about to tantrum like a child, and then to sincerely concerned blowhard.
