Sudan: Journey Into One Of The Most Closed Countries In The World | ENDEVR Documentary

Sudan, ancient Nubia, is home to many unique natural and archaeological treasures. Since gaining independence in 1956, the country has experienced 18 coup attempts. After thirty years under the military-Islamist dictatorship of Omar al-Bashir, Sudan experienced a brief period of democracy in 2019. This was short-lived, however, as the country was subject to a new coup that brought General al-Burhan and his military junta to power in October 2021. Since then, Sudan has been completely closed off from the rest of the world.

Every week, thousands of citizens gather around the country to protest coup d’état – and women are the face of this revolution. They yearn for freedom after years of suffering under military dictatorship and sharia law, where they were routinely flogged and humiliated. One woman explained her involvement in the fight for freedom, “We distribute these paint cans around the neighbourhood to announce our protests and we will write slogans in favour of the revolution”. By spraying these words of dissent around the city, these women risk prison and torture. Although the protesters know that they will be fiercely repressed and try to protect themselves the best they can, they can only make do with temporary shields and plastic helmets. Nothing to shelter them from the live bullets shot by the army – which even target doctors and young children. All the while, they run the risk of falling victim to the relentless arbitrary arrests.

The political crisis has also worsened the economic situation, with the inflation rate running at 380%. Even before the coup, Sudan was one of the poorest countries in the world; now, however, even middle-class people are finding it increasingly difficult to survive. More than two million city-dwellers have left to seek their fortune in the desert just to get by. There, they hope to find a few nuggets of gold to change their life…

Sudan, ancient Nubia, is home to many unique natural and archaeological treasures. This land of the black pharaohs has more pyramids than its famous neighbour, Egypt – yet there are no visitors, no tourists, and no foreign travellers. Cut off from the rest of the world, Sudan, a former safe haven for international terrorists, is now one of the most unstable countries on the planet. Since gaining independence in 1956, the country has experienced 18 coup attempts. After thirty years under the military-Islamist dictatorship of Omar al-Bashir, Sudan experienced a brief period of democracy in 2019. This was short-lived however, as the country was subject to a new coup which brought General al-Burhan and his military junta to power in October 2021.

I don't think the title of this documentary is accurate. Sudan is NOT the most closed country in the world. North Korea is to me by far, the most closed country on Earth.

You are wrong in your report and lack credibility. We, as the Sudanese people, yes, we suffer from the authority, the government and the military in the past, but today Burhan saved the people and the country from the mercenaries, Hemeti. I hope that you make sure of the Sudanese people and do not bring Sudanese people who speak on behalf of the Sudanese citizen. This is wrong. We, as a people, love our armed forces because they saved us from the Janjaweed taking over our country. Today, wherever the army is liberated from the Janjaweed, the citizen returns to his home. The Janjaweed at the beginning of the war stole homes, displaced citizens, robbed banks, stole markets and companies. We thank God that we have an army that saved us from the mercenaries and Janjaweed who destroyed our country. Make sure of the Sudanese street well and publish your report.

So many countries still haven't figured out their place in world society. While the people desire to make their country great, the dictators hold corruption with an iron fist.

Sick president trying to dance looking like a criminal organization .
Do they know how simple they look.
Any leaders who are walking around putting on their dances are simply showing their interest love and greed while civilians military are not eating even one healthy meal per day. While the leadership is too fat.

Blurring things out doesnt teach anyone anything. You can show it. We watch people get blown up or shot and killed on hundreds of channels. You are teaching history and conflicts that are happening witch puts this as educational. Stop blurring it. People need to see what is being done. It wil help show how bad things are in other places

Sudan is devastated and distroyed everywhere. I don't when this video was made Totally unbelievable stuffs. It's not a closed society. My son in law was working there. There are thousands of expatriates working there. But that's all gone. Now two mad generals are on a killing spree and distroying a society 😢

this documentary is biased , not the full picture , a lot is behind the scene , specially the period between the civilian transition and the so called military coup.
