Death Cab For Cutie – Transatlanticism – 20th Anniversary ALBUM REVIEW

Poetic Wax | August 4, 2025

Andy from the FensePost Indie Music & Vinyl Blog looks at Transatlanticism by Death Cab For Cutie on Barsuk Records. Transatlanticism turns 20 this year, and in Andy’s opinion it remains their most valiant and timeless release.

Andy walks through the various pressings available on vinyl before unboxing his copy, which is the 10th Anniversary pressing from 2013. He then talks a little about some of the songs on the album in an album review.

Fun fact: the cover art is a reference to Jeremy in the Secret of NIMH. He was collecting red string as a means to attract a mate and the main theme of Transatlanticism is love.

I love Transatlatacism. To me it's a perfect encapsulation of Ben and Chris's collaboration. So much interesting production laced around Ben's songwriting. Same as you, I return to it every year – and throughout every year lol. Ever since I really started digging into their catalogue I've continued to discover more to love on their records
