Red Hoop Talk EP 45: RORY WHEELER, Seneca

92.9 The Torch | March 16, 2025



This Sunday LIVE on #REDHOOPTALK, we visit with RORY WHEELER, a citizen of the Seneca Nation, born into Turtle Clan. He is also a descendent of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. Rory resides on the Seneca Cattaraugus Territory in New York.

Rory has been active in efforts to bring awareness to American Indian issues across the United States working with Tribes, Tribal and non-Tribal organizations with a special focus on getting our people, especially his fellow youth more civically engaged. Rory serves as a Youth Advisory Board Member for the Center for Native American Youth, and in addition he serves as a Board Member for the Association on American Indian Affairs, a Peer Guide with UNITY, and is active within the My Brother’s Keeper Alliance with the Obama Foundation. From 2016-2020 Rory served on the National Congress of American Indians Youth Commission where he served as Vice President and later President.

Rory is pursuing his education at Niagara University studying Political Science/Pre-Law. In his community serves as a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician and was a former Government/External Affairs Fellow and Youth Ambassador for the Seneca Nation.
