24th RNCI Red Nation International Film Festival & Awards 2019

Red Nation Television Network | February 5, 2025

The 24th RNCI Red Nation International Film Festival (RNIFF) – the Authentic Voice of American Indian and Indigenous Cinema – is the largest Native film festival in the country and was the first Native festival in Los Angeles. RNIFF routinely secures top Native films and is dedicated to increasing the visibility of American Indian and Indigenous artists and stories in the entertainment landscape.

RNIFF screens films for more consecutive days than any other film festival, including Tribeca, Sundance, TIFF or AFI. The festival is held for two weeks and showcases student films, short films, documentaries and features that are either produced/directed/written by or star Native talent or the subject is related to the American Indian and Indigenous experience.

This year’s competition lineup is stacked with both new and returning talent from the Native perspective and is comprised of films from countries including the US, Canada. Mexico and New Zealand.

We are also very excited to announce the 30th anniversary screening of the seminal classic, Powwow Highway. The screening will be held in exclusive partnership with Janus Films and Handmade Films and will feature a cast reunion.

A few key dates for the 2019 Red Nation International Film Festival are included below:
September 16th – Official film selection announcement
October 14th – RNCI Red Nation Awards Ceremony nominees announcement press conference
November 1st – Festival Opening at Semillas Community School
November 9th – FilmLA Diversity Panel at AFM
November 11th – RNCI Red Nation Awards Ceremony sit-down dinner at The Hollywood Roosevelt
As part of the festival this year, we will also be holding a very special Sacred Water of Life ceremony on Tongva land with the elders. The ceremony will take place at sunrise in Santa Monica.
