I lived a decade as a touring DJ deep into this world and one day it just clicked how everyone was running from reality. Fine in small doses. Genuinely harmful in large doses. Impossible to ever talk about it. Dont kill the vibe. Dont kill the vibe. Dont kill the vibe. Incessantly. It’s not good. It’s fun but it’s just simple hedonism. No way to really live. Mix that with fame and social media…

I've been living in Berlin for fifteen years, did the partying, did the driving, did the dancing, with people from so many different backgrounds. I felt immensely free in Berlin clubs, like I had never felt before.
The sad truth is that capitalism and speculation have seriously damaged our communities and our neighborhoods, they did the same to club culture, as for many it had become a luxury to afford your entry ticket into Berghain – and other cultural places.

Presenting the Berlin club scene as just sprouting up from the ether after the fall of the Berlin wall is a little disingenuous imho. As you said, it is baked into the culture of this city. These kinds of spaces in Berlin go back to the Weimar Republic, maybe even earlier. I think there was even a documentary on netflix about one of them, called the Eldorado. Point is, there is a very strong legacy of these kinds of "liberated" spaces in Berlin, that goes beyond just recent living memory.

It sounds maybe weired, but people love to live and go to party in Berlin because of the music. Berlin is a epicentre of electronic music culture, like Detroit. Just digg into the scene of "Underground Resistance" and thank me later <3

i live in Berlin, this is so old… check out the underground artist scene, or local organisers, anything else besides this small part of the city. Honestly you should go thru the echzeit community or the radio broadcasts from gardens, there is so much this city has. The club scene is barely staying alive, times are changing and people need community right now

I really really hope to never see Andrew in for Brazilian carnival. Although I like the channel and the content it seems it is oriented to US people and there is NOTHING worse than telling a country like the US that there is something overseas which is really cool. They will, eventually, flood your place as a gold rush flock.
