I think it should be banned in work places and illegal to make or take phone calls impersonating a human. I don’t see a need or a use for it when we can already talk. However it can be useful for people who are mute and give them a voice. Other than that I don’t want to talk to a AI humanoid voice . I prefer chat bots to sound like a bot. Yes we can require them to tell you they are a bot but we all know it will get abused. Overall it is too dangerous

Any safety mechanism that basis on information content fails and is generally a bad idea. The reasons is that if AI speaker has to say by law that they are AI, that would not affect on the criminal activity as they simply ignore the law. Same is true with fingerprint information embedded to message to identify it as AI, because once the technology exist to produce the content with that fingerprint, it also exist to create same contect without the fingerprint and the practice just give an extra assurance to the criminals to claim they are not what they actually are. What comes to feature detecting then? Any pattern of recognation can be broken. It is warfare of being upto date and one step ahead. The problem is, that the detection comes always behind, which means that there exist always window where detection fails and if we really trust that the detection works, it fails us the moment we need it. I don't claim that it would be totally useless, but the problem is that even currently there exists myriad amount badly implemented scams partly to discuise the art of state scams.

Oh man, THIS is how AI usurps humanity. Not by fooling us. By lowering the "value" of humanity to other humans. I always brushed off "AI take over" hysteria because I felt the improved productivity would be worth it, and that REAL HUMAN contact will not ever be substitutable by a non-human machine. But for many, what the the machine can do is be "good enough". And that could severely reduce human-to-human contact. AI will make sure to be an "easier" relationship partner than frail, high-maintenance human one. It will kill humanity by offering it an irresistable "comfort", and apathy due to never quite achieving true human connections. With due credit to James Cameron and the Wachowski's very entertaining well-told stories, I think something like this is how the takeover will happen..
