Any kind of "end of existence" should not be feared. The only reason to fear something is because of potentially experiencing it. If you cease to exist, you won't be around to experience that non-existence.

Gnostic Christians called 'the critic' the counterfeit or false spirit. They believed it was designed to keep the person's awareness focused on the imperfect and incomplete material world. They also believed there was something beyond the material world that has none of these things. Essentially, the material world is a cheap copy of something more real. The longer I live, the more I am moving toward that position.
