Trump showed his ignorance (yet again) with that remark about not using a nuke because the enemy are defeated militarily. That was the scenario in ww2 when the united states used two nuclear bombs against imperial Japan. Japan had been defeated militarily but would not surrender. In a more sane era that would have been followed by a question making that point and asking if Trump felt Truman should not have used nukes against Japan. But Trump never has to explain his responses or give any thought to historical context. He just insults journalists, spouts some nonsense about the fake news media and goes back to being told how great he is by the ass kissers he surrounds himself with.

The military being unable to respond to threats at home sounds like an excellent way of smoothing the path for a violent insurrection using "law enforcement" that has been specifically set up to attack citizens already, including the existing law enforcement departments aiding them in such tasks. Doing it right before the election is maybe the main reason I suspect this to be their motivation.
Not saying they'll succeed, mind you, but it does seem like something a bunch of far-right religious extremists worried their puppet president is dying might do.

The CIC is atrocious no doubt, and one of his mistakes (and yours) is confusing sychophants with loyalists: like Hegsplat these will be on the first private jet that will take them when Trump is gone.
However, the IRGC is one of the most poisonous ideological entities on the planet and they sicked their dogs on Israel in response to the Abraham accord. That they should never have a nuclear weapon is the most basic conclusion any sane person could come to.
