The problem is, the community that i really click with isnt in where i live. I have moved away from my hom country but still managed to befriend new people from online forums. They have meetups, hangouts, even randomly when someone is bored they could just zoom somewhere with several people. But i cant join them im literally on the other side of the world.
While im also trying to befriend people here, it did happened, but they also live far away now (we used to live close to each other). Im naturally the clown, the one that would initiate things when situation got awkward in groups that repeatedly get together. But again, i think im too much of a "bright" person that people thought i have a lot of friends, so they only interact with me if needed. I have long distance friends, but i dont know who to reach out when there's the need to connect and share when everyone are so close yet so far…

This video seems to assume that you already immersed in situations where you regularly interact with various people.
That's a very strange assumption to make for a video on how to make friends.

"Go somewhere with people, repeatedly". Yeah cool, unhelpful. That's kind of the principle issue with modern loneliness, there are no people for you to be with, and friendship is part of the presupposed social contract to these meetings. You are screwed on the basis of social poverty, there is no capital to invest on. This is the equivalent of telling a homeless person to invest a million dollars.

The most underrated act of kindness is simply letting people be. let them mispronounce a word, talk too much about a show they love, or get excited about something you don't quite understand. everyone has something that lights them up, let them shine, even if it's not your thing.

thank you for mentioning neurodivergent people and people of color at the end. But couldn't you have mentioned women and lgbtq+ people too? And the disabled? And you didn't say "capitalism" once wtf how am I supposed to watch this video that doesn't even say "capitalism" once?

I have to be honest, this channel feels like it's apathetically calling out my social and emotional flaws. I've been going through a very difficult mental health battle with multiple facets of unresolved trauma, my autistic tendencies making socializing difficult being one of the major ones. I lost my friend group of 15 years and I haven't been able to recover. No matter how objectively I look at myself through the people that are in my life, I still cannot find a reason to make myself feel important enough to be friend to somebody new.
Edit: I wrote this halfway through the video and now at the end, I can say I feel doubly called out.

What a noble message the one pronounced at the end. It also reminds me of another word that begins with an 'n' as well.

Good video. I’m an autistic woman in her 20s trying to figure out how to make more friends. I know I have niche interests, I tried a few places, unfortunately it has led to meltdowns for me. Overcoming that is hard and I started to isolate again. I think I might have to make my own meet up locally, see what happens. It does seem much easier said than done however. I’ll keep trying, but man is it tough.

Im a misanthrope, through and through.
Below is a poem by one of my favorite authors.
"The Crunch" By: Charles Bukowski
Too little
Too fat
Too thin
Or nobody
Too much
Too little
Too fat too thin
Or nobody
Laughter
Or tears
Haters
Lovers
Strangers with faces like
The backs of
Thumb tacks
Armies running through
Streets of blood
Waving winebottles
Bayoneting
Fucking virgins
Or an old guy in a cheap room
With a photograph of M. Monroe
There is a loneliness in this world so great
That you can see it
In the slow movement
Of the hands of a clock
People so tired
Mutilated
Either by love
Or no love
People are just not good to each other
One on one
The rich are not good to the rich
Poor are not good to the poor
We are afraid
Our educational system tells us
That we can all be
Big-ass winners
It hasn't told us
About the gutters
Or the suicides
Or the terror of one person
Aching in one place alone
Untouched
Unspoken to
Watering a plant
People are not good to each other
People are not good to each other
I suppose they never will be
I suppose they never will be
People are not good to each other
People are not good to each other
I suppose they never will be
I suppose they never will be
I didn't ask them to be
But sometimes
I think about it
The beads will swing
The clouds will cloud
And the killer will behead the child
Like taking a bite
Out of an ice cream cone
Too much
Too little
Too fat
Too thin
Or nobody
More haters than lovers
People are not good to each other
Perhaps if they were
Our deaths would not be so sad
Meanwhile
I look at young girls
Stems
Flowers of chance
There must be a way
Surely there must be a way
We have not yet thought of
Who put this brain inside of me?
It cries
It demands
It says there is a chance
It will not say
"No."
People are not good to each other
People are not good to each other
I suppose they never will be
I suppose they never will be
People are not good to each other
People are not good to each other
I suppose they never will be
I suppose they never will be
I didn't ask them to be
But sometimes I think about it
But sometimes I think about it

Friends will find you. Humans naturally gravitate toward each other, forming bonds based on mutual interest. We literally have to move to the most isolated parts of the world if we want guaranteed isolation. Even then we bump into others of our kind. Humans need numbers to live long and comfortable lives. We’re curious to a fault too. 😅

Funny, I come to this despite feeling somewhat both pessimistic and optimistic about moving out soon.
I'm doing it mostly to meet new friends who are more similar to me, and honestly some days the pessimism wins, some days I feel more hopeful and more driven to keep remembering why I'm moving out and why I need to do this for my own sake regardless of the hoops I know are ahead.
Much as I don't like admitting it, what I really failed to remember in high school was that being in high school period was basically the only reason I had a healthier social life then than I do now. Adulthood's issue now seems to be me trying to build that social health on my own without this system outside my control that basically makes social isolation difficult by design.

This video was on my mind this past week as I tried working up the courage to go to some in person nerd meetups in my area. A couple of times I could only get ready before getting too nervous, other times I went there and didn’t go inside and just drove away. Tonight was the night I actually went and hung out, and the idea that people actually wanted to talk to me just like I wanted to talk to them gave me a lot of bravery I didn’t know I had. Thank you Sisyphus.

I have found that the biggest impediment for me making friends and going past acquaintance phase was the feeling that I could not live up to the personae that I presented. Which is to say I always presented myself as what I perceived to be higher status instead of being honest with who I was. This greed for what I perceived as higher status basically made me a phony and unable to truly connect with people past a superficial level. All of this to say that true connection with others requires humility, and authenticity(to a certain degree if there is such a thing) on your part.
