This Wisconsin narrative is incredibly dishonest framing, Hong lost by 3k votes and her campaign didn't have the financing for any TV spots, no national endorsements, and the entire establishment against her. If she had been able to run even 15 days of ads before the primary we'd be having a much different conversation.

Hasan should be the chair of the DNC. Love getting to hear him speak.

The conversation re "moderates" is always misguided in my view. Most people think they are "moderate", but if you poll them on specific policies they align way more w progressive and/or DSA. This is how the Neera Tandens of the world get away with their "moderates" narrative.

Hasan’s definitely correct that older voters are starting to realize Bernie would have won. My mom actually apologized to me recently for how she voted her whole life because she’s realized the Dem establishment are completely corrupt

I think the dynamic that people are missing is: audiemces don't go from left wing indie media back to MSNBC or NPR. You may bounce from one indie comment or to the next depending on circumstance, but the messaging monolith can only erode.
Also not to be conspiratorial, but all our communications pass through a black box owned by trumpistas. Should either side gain a clear advantage someone at oracle, meta, or alphabet can turn the handicap dial up. So the feeling that 2016 never ended seems less unusual when you remember that.

I used to value Vox because it could take complicated subjects and explain them with context, evidence, and nuance. Giving someone like Hasan Piker a platform while treating similarly provocative or extreme voices on the right by a completely different standard is deeply disappointing. This isn't about demanding that Vox agree with the right. It's about consistency. If inflammatory rhetoric, apologetics for authoritarianism, or extreme ideological views are unacceptable when they come from one side, they should be unacceptable when they come from the other. You cannot condemn dangerous rhetoric based on who says it while excusing it when the speaker happens to share your politics. That's not principled journalism. It's ideological hypocrisy, and Vox should be better than that. And perhaps Vox should pay attention to what its own audience is telling it. The channel currently sits at roughly 12.7 million subscribers, and available analytics show essentially no subscriber growth over the most recent measured month, despite continuing to publish heavily. Vox built an enormous audience by making complicated subjects understandable through exceptional visual storytelling. When that mission gives way to increasingly ideological content and political personalities, it risks alienating the broad audience that made Vox successful in the first place.
A stagnant subscriber count doesn't prove that editorial choices caused the slowdown. But when a channel this large is publishing frequently while barely adding subscribers, it should at least raise the question: Has Vox stopped making content for the audience that originally made Vox, Vox?

I wonder how long this channel will stay this honest under the new leadership. Very fair interview.
