was a combat medic. If you're genuinely afraid of shtf not only do a bleed course, but do cpr, basic life support and any inexpensive medical training you can

I recently did one of these courses. It's about an hour and a half long, shows you the basics of wrapping a wound, packing a wound and using a tourniquet. Best part was it was free in my area. I hope I never need it but i'm as prepared as I can be if I do.

Easy tourniquet hack, take an old exercise band, or one of those Chinese door all in one exercise kits you hang in the door frame, cut off the handles, easy tourniquet

CPR with first aid is good too. $150 and sometimes your work place will pay you more for having it😊

Tourniquets can generally be DIY'd in an emergency by anyone who knows how to properly use one anyway, and in general is a shit has hit the wall measure.
I say this as someone not technically qualified but who has been taught by a certified teacher as a lil extra thing at the last first aid resit as it seems times are bleak enough they figured we should know how they are used.

The misuse of tourniquets is leading to a lot of unnecessary amputations in Ukraine. Be careful.

I remember when this video came out it was literally the week that my job started giving out Stop the bleed training, I had just been told a few days before that I was going to have to take the course.

Tourniquets are only meant to stay on for 15mins at a time. Any longer and you risk necrosis.

bro that alcohol in your kit will hurt you in the cold (the added warmth is an illusion) and not work well at all to sterilize shit since it's not medical proof

I'm a certified pharmacy technician with first aid training and my sister is a licensed medical assistant. I was badly bitten in the wrist by a dog and we didn't know if he had got an artery but I was bleeding heavily. Besides my sister and myself, everyone present was panicking. I had to take my mom's phone from her to tell a 911 operator that we didn't need assistance. We stopped the bleeding, cleaned and dressed the wound and she drove me to the hospital. When I got to a room, the nurse was impressed with our field dressing and said their own protocol for wound dressing would be the same. Learn to stay calm in emergency situations and first aid.

I took a somewhat more detailed class on bleeding control and basic trauma response with Urban Survivalcraft in Miami and it was among the most useful things I've ever learned. I learned how and when to use tourniquets, compression dressings, clotting agents and occlusive dressings (chest seals). I now add all of those things to my cars, my wife's (who learned to use this stuff in ROTC) cars, my parents' (who learned to use this stuff in med school) cars, and I tell anybody who will listen to take a bleeding control class and add this stuff to your cars. Also, buy an Element solid state fire extinguisher and add it to your car as well. Second best thing you will ever add to your car.

The comments here convinced me to take a basic CPR/First Aid course. It only costs $15 for both where I live and is valid for two years. I only signed up for it yesterday, so I haven't completed it yet, but I am ready. Thank you @fleshsimulator for this video (you are my new favorite YouTube guy) and thank you to everyone who commented about it
