When I found out that don’t cha by the pussycat dolls was a cover, I was floored. Apparently the original singer got her song given to them because they didn’t think she was the type of person to sing a song like that, from what I remember/ heard.

The Cee Lo Green's cover of "No Ones Gonna Love You" is a rare case where the cover is even better than the original. Joe Cocker's cover of With a Little Help From My Friends is another. Do a vid on this, maybe?

Santana covered “You Got To Change Your Evil Ways,” originally recorded by Willie Bobo. Janis Joplin covered “Piece Of My Heart,” originally recorded by Erma Franklin, Aretha’s sister.

Great video as always, dude! Here are a few songs I've learned are covers:

-Everybody's Talkin' [Fred Neil; covered by Harry Nilsson]
-One (Is The Loneliest Number) [Harry Nilsson; covered by Three Dog Night]
-Twisted [Lambert, Hendricks & Ross; covered by Joni Mitchell]
-It's Oh So Quiet [Betty Hutton; covered by Björk, although apparently this was originally a German song so Betty Hutton only debuted the English version]

Edit [more that came to mind]:
-Fools Rush In (Where Angels Fear to Tread) [Composed in 1936 and recorded by several jazz bands and vocalists; Rick Nelson charts with his 1963 version]
-Good Lovin' [recorded by Lemme B. Good and again by The Olympics; then covered by The Rascals]
-The Tide Is High [The Paragons; covered by Blondie]

8 of Luther Vandross most famous songs were covers
    Superstar
    House is not a home
    Always and forever
    If this world were mine
    Creepin
    if only for one night
    Since I lost my baby
    Endless Love
The closer i get to you.
All these songs charted and they all were covers

Answering the prompt: "I'm Your Puppet" is one of the most beautiful cover version journeys imaginable. So many versions, so many of them great. James & Bobby Purify OG is the best, but don't sleep on Dionne Warwick or Bobby Womack. Super enjoying your content bro, keep it up for all us aging crate diggers ♥

The one I recently found out was Superstar by Jamelia. The strange thing is, the orignal is almost identical (except same backing track) but Jamelia just changed a few lyrics, which actually worked way better!

Fun fact: Blame it on the Boogie was covered by Mexican superstar Luis Miguel in 1990 with new Spanish lyrics and it became huge. Even today, most Mexicans don't know it's a cover. It's called "Será que no me amas".
