Remember when Some shows jumped the shark, and others launched over it in a leather jacket while waving goodbye to logic. The "SharK" moment for Laverne and Shirley was the move to California. For Mork and Mindy, it was the cast changes in Season 2. Jay Thomas had been a DJ in Charlotte until he decided to go into acting. I met him once. He was not a nice guy. Andy Kauffman's character on Taxi became too .bizarre!

OK let's flip this on it is head. Like 7 of 9 being added to Star Trek : Voyager, Charles in charge with the family swap. All in the family becomes Archie's Place Adding Dawn to Buffy the vampire slayer and the Angel spin-off and the adding of Spike and Fred's change and Angel and Cordy. Just some ideas.

What about Moonlighting? Although it could b argued whether the show's decline started when Curtis Armstrong joined the cast as Herbert Viola, or when Dave and Maddie slept together(both in dseason 3)… Although I attribute the show's decline to the behind the scene goings-on during season 3…

Even though it was short-lived, The Ropers should be on this list. It's ratings in the first half season qualified them as a moderate juggernaut that it's hopes for continuing the series were imminent. But season two fell victim to scheduling abuse, separating it from it's parent show Three's Company on the Tuesday night ABC lineup. ABC's decision to move The Ropers to Saturday nights was worse than getting stuck with the middle seat in the back of the aircraft next to the bathroom. Since their success was dependent on riding shotgun with Three's Company, ratings for The Ropers fell so low that it was labeled by Time magazine as one of the top 10 worst TV spin offs.

For me, happy days ended after the first season, when they no longer stuck to keeping the show a realistic look at the 1950s. I hated how they were supposed to be in the 1950s, but they all had blow-dried 70s hairstyles

The 1st two seasons of WHAT'S HAPPENING !! were just great. That 3rd season ? It's amazing how the quality of the show just totally nose dived starting with the 1st episode of their 3rd season !!

All long running TV shows eventually change something to add more story ideas, it's not jumping the shark, it's the writers running out of ideas. Other than Happy Days, there are no "jumping the shark" moments here. Moving the setting to LA is not jumping the shark, nor is making the popular central character stand out more.

Drew Carey. When steve, kate, and Mr wick all left. Also Winfred Lauder went bankrupt and became a store similar to Amazon.

That 70s show when Topher Grace and Ashton Kutcher left.

I've never really looked back it but Erkle effectively taking over Family Matters was my turning point on the show. By the time Stefan became a thing, I'd already completely checked out of the show.
