Personally, I either sleep the whole time, even for a 20 minute car ride, or I get jacked up on caffeine and sugar with a soda and 2 or 3 pizza slices. When I’m jacked up on caffeine and sugar and pizza, I either yap a lot about random stuff like anti-radiation missiles, (they lock onto radar waves) or I watch my phone and steal the only charger in the car because I’m the only one who brought a cord.
Also, here in Iowa, we have Casey’s, but I’ve seen a Kwik Trip here and there and they’ve always been like little patches of heaven. The glazers are like a personal gift from god.
My son did a lot of his driving learner's permit hours with my dad, a retired truck driver. My dad passed last year. I miss him constantly. But anytime I'm in the car with my son, it's like he's right there. I had to discreetly record an audio of my son bitching about every damn driver once and sent it to the family and they all were like omg it's your dad exactly. Amazing what you can miss so much.
Don't forget the one with the bladder of a squirrel that also drinks an obnoxious amount of water/coffee/tea/soda. You know, the one who everyone looks at when there's a sign that says, "Last rest stop for X miles" Because they don't wanna hear them complain.
I can relate on that outtake. "OW AH AH AH AH"! Every time I do it, it ends up sounding like my mom's '83 cavalier starting up back in the day. Then my buddies look at me funny and one of them inevitably punches me in the arm. 😂
