Let’s explore the misunderstood masterpiece that is MGMT’s sophomore record, “Congratulations”. A bold move from the duo, they stayed true to their progressive-rock roots and produced an experimental album with haunting sounds, upbeat tunes, and thought-provoking lyrics. From the warning about drug usage in “It’s Working” to societal disillusionment in “Flash Delirium” and the complexity of life in “Siberian Breaks”, dive into MGMT’s true musical identity.

Anyone know whats going on with HANSON? MGMT will Survive no matter what anyone else says or thinks of them. They are In Control of Their Destiny, I would imagine.😊🎼🎵 Def Leppard comes to mind as well.🤔

Saw them live. Love seeing a band on stage that acts like they don't want to be there. That was really great. Be the band you want to be but pull the stick out of your ass now and then…

I saw them in 2005 opening for Of Montreal and they were so laughably bad— I promise you, I like weirdness and I like prog rock and it was easily the worst concert I’d ever seen. Still to this day, the worst concert I’ve ever seen. The audience couldn’t figure out if they were being a parody of a band or if they were serious, but either way, it was cringe levels of bad. Not “oh this is cool” bad. There were costumes, cheap looking sets, they were screaming, running back and forth, no one really playing instruments, but if they did, they were out of sync. No discernible songs at all for their whole set. Just noise and two guys running around in circles. People went from amused, to bewildered, to annoyed real fast and that seemed to be the goal of what they were doing on stage. I figured that I would consider it the most bizarre thing I’d ever encountered at a concert, if I ever thought of them again after their set ended.
When I heard those 3 songs that everyone loves and realized it was the same band, I’ll never forget that. It doesn’t surprise me in the least that they fought the label and consider their best, most accessible songs to be the joke songs. I always think about them in 2005 whenever I hear those songs on TV. Hope they’re doing well

Congratulations is in my top 5 albums of all time. I understand why people might not like it, but as a whole, it's a transcendental experience. People wanted 'Kids' pt 2, but got something real, visceral. The majority of Oracular Spectacular is a sarcastic take on pop. The fact that a joke turned out to be an album of hits shows how intelligent they are as songwriters.

They a great example of trying to be weird when your not. First album rocked cause it was them, they weren’t trying. Then they tried to be different. Not that their horrible. I like the new stuff. But the first album is an unmatchable classic.

You should remove either “own” or “self” from the title. Using both is redundant.
