"At war with the mystics" was mastered not so good to my ears. It's way too loud. Especially on CD. Holy crap. I am used to the old way "non loudness war" type of mastering. You can turn it up on your home stereo and let the volume push out the low end of your speakers. But we dont listen to music on big speakers anymore or on home stereos. Do we really listen to music anymore? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL PS, I live like 15min away from WC and been to there movie and video shoots and met them etc. Alot of bands I used to like have really went down in this modern era. I think Radiohead is truly my last remaining favorite band. They do cool stuff and dont over tour and they dont put out duds.

I think it's just the way music has morphed via streaming n such…for me they peaked in the Soft Bulletin/Yoshimi/Mystics era. Seen em live a bunch and they're just a really fun band who aren't afraid to truly experiment and go out on a creative limb

This is so inspiring. I make a little bit of music.
I picked up an "useless" degree in music because that's all that made sense to me in higher education, but one of my biggest wishes is to one day be produced by Fridmann or the Flaming Lips or at least a collaboration with them or MGMT.

I'll meet them and at least shake their hands one day though.
I just gotta work hard and hopefully one day put on amazing live shows with my friends like they do.

It’s something you see with prolific and true artists, especially when they’ve already garnered acclaim and fortune. Why wander the same old beaten path when there are uncharted reaches to explore anew? It reminds me of the recent Arctic Monkeys releases. They were a popular indie rock band that saw an opportunity to make one pop album to lasting critical acclaim and then went on to start making things like Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino, a concept album about a hotel and casino on the moon, or The Car their latest album, incorporating elements of lounge, jazz, almost Sinatra-esque, while still mildly psychedelic and punchy at times. It’s not typical radio music like AM but it’s definitely art, and I love seeing artists who’ve achieved that level of creative freedom and use it like this.

The Soft Bulletin is a groundbreaking work of genuine, bona fide genius. In a way, it rivals any album I can think of by anyone ever. The songwriting isn’t quite as brilliant asthe Beatles, Grateful Dead,Tool, Stones, Sabbath, Zapplin, Floyd, and a few others, but the music is impossibly innovative, original, gorgeous, and even programmatic to an astounding degree.

The Terror is my favorite album. They are always evolving. They are just a weird cult band that I love. Being irrelevant is reserved for those making the coolest shiz usually.
