Couple of things:
I like the Jayhawks and know that Petty partially nicked Waiting for the Sun, but they go to the F and the songs have very little in common other than the first two chords. Plus Benmont plays on both.
I was aware that Meisner recorded bass on Hotel California but saying B Schmit is funnier and let’s face it, it’s been his since ’77 and he’s got a GE Smith/Cryptkeeper vibe.
I removed Diamond and Cherry Cherry from the Battle of EADA because it turned into a long segment on why/how people love screaming “so good” in Sweet Caroline. But yes, Cherry Cherry kinda started it all.
