U.S. Judge Partially Tosses Charges in Rodney Jones Jr.’s Lawsuit Against Sean “Diddy” Combs
Lil Rod vs. Diddy: Legal Battle Continues Amidst Partial Dismissal

On March 24, U.S. District Judge J. Paul Oetken issued an order that largely hinged on technicalities, stating that Lil Rod’s accusations failed to demonstrate sufficient damages under the RICO Act—seemingly a body blow to the larger narrative of a conspiracy. The judge also criticized filings by Lil Rod’s legal counsel, Tyrone Blackburn, for being “replete with inaccurate statements of law” and warning against ad hominem attacks directed at opposing counsel.
A resolute Blackburn, unfazed by the partial dismissal, declared the situation a “win” for his client. “Defendants wanted a total dismissal and they failed to get it,” he asserted in his statement to Pitchfork. He boldly added, “I know where all the bodies are buried and I have a HUGE shovel. Time to start digging!” As the case moves into the discovery phase, the stakes are intensifying, and the potential for further revelations looms large.
Diddy, always a fighter in the courtroom, had previously attempted to dismiss the lawsuit outright in August 2024. Known for his retaliatory legal maneuvers, he’s recently been embroiled in a series of lawsuits, including one against NBCUniversal over the forthcoming documentary Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy and another against an individual claiming to possess incriminating footage from his notorious “freak-off” parties.
This courtroom drama is a continuation of a tumultuous climate surrounding Diddy, who is currently facing allegations from multiple civil lawsuits accusing him of sexual assault, grooming, and battery. Although a recently filed rape lawsuit against both Diddy and Jay-Z was withdrawn, the former still grapples with serious legal battles, including a federal trial on sex trafficking charges scheduled for May 2025.
