Well, time to be a huge nerd.
The original run of Spider-Man comics included an end-of-issue featurette comparing various qualities of Spidey's web-fluid to the Fantastic Four.
As part of this, it mentions that a few hours after deployment, the webbing begins to quickly break down into a mixture of chemical vapor & microparticulates, "fading from sight like the Invisible Woman!"
