and just ftr, it's not that viewing something, for example cp, will drive someone to commit assault on a child. the normalizing effect is social. it effects a society's boundaries, not so much an individual's, unless they're already sick. and it is demonstrably dangerous, as we've see with the normalization of racism and anti-lgbt rhetoric over the last few years. if vocal elements of society treat a thing like it's normal and rational and acceptable, that has a deleterious effect, especially on younger people who have yet to learn how to see the world outside of the vacuum of their own experience. 

but presumably, if someone is viewing cp, that means they're attracted to children. far from banning it outright, we should be using it as a honey trap, because p-filia it's an illness that needs to be addressed. it's not a sexuality, it's a condition, and if these people can't control their urges due to that condition, they need to sequestered away from their triggers. both for their own safety and the safety of society at large.
