" wondering what they're going to do about Maria . . ."
Good lord sir , my pants duly soaked.
You crack me up 😂❤

It has to be said that the film is, and always has been, a completely stunning piece of work, and I tend to find the people who claim to dislike it most have probably never even seen it in the first place. It didn't run continuously at the Dominion Tottenham Court Road for the best part of five years because it wasn't any good, after all! I admire your making of this video, and agree that it's a shame the bluray film wasn't included 😢

'How do you solve a problem like Maria?' without tearing up at 'Climb Every Mountain', or 'Edelweiss' or over at least 10 other scenes?

Five months later but anyway here's what I think: Richard Rodgers, a genius of melody. Look up the tunes he's written and you will sigh loudly.
Along with Irving Berlin, my favourite of the old time composers. I have many CDs of both. I was blasting out Metallica an hour ago, so you could say I'm quite erm, elastic

Absolutely loving your humour on these videos! Absolutely first class! Excellent review videos too. I love my movie soundtracks right there along side my metal and rock 🤘

A beautiful looking item, will add it to my 50th birthday present list. Don't underestimate the amount of people that appreciate metal, rock and musicals. The sound of music would be in my top 5 go to movies.
Regularly play the music in the car and my minds eye can see each stage of the movie whatever song is on. Most impressive is the opening scene where we are skimming the mountains admiring the beauty before swooping in on Julie Andrews. Awesome.
Another fave of mine is Oliver!. Anyone that can't recognise the importance of these films and the music isn't worth talking about music to. ❤

The disc in your envelope is the corrected Disc 4. When the set waa released, Disc 4 was a mispressed duplicate disc of Disc 2. Craft included the corrected disc in your package.

Good music is indeed good music.
I grew up with musicals … The Sound of Music, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers [my children's favorite], Singing In The Rain …
My collection spans from Jethro Tull to Frank Sinatra [greatest male vocalist IMHO], to King Crimson, to Yes, to the Allman Brothers Band, to Cold Chisel, to the Butterfield Blues Band, to Kansas, to "Outlander" soundtracks, to Van Cliburn … on and on.

In the 70s, I worked with a guy who was a fan of punk rock, but wouldn’t hear a word against White Christmas by Bing Crosby. Don’t forget too that John Peel loved the Eurovision Song Contest.

People can scoff all they like, but I wish I'd written the songs. Then I wouldn't be living in a three bedroom semi-detached.

My earliest recollections of listening to music were two of my dad’s records ‘An American in Paris’ and the soundtrack to ‘Oklahoma’. The music to ‘The Sound of Music’ is a masterpiece. Richard Rodgers was an incredible composer. I am not surprised at this video. Lovers of rock should recognise the wealth of music that has been bequeathed to us that has laid the foundation for what we think of as essential.

No, it's not Van der Graaf Generator, although Peter Hammill was a fan of, and influenced by musicals in his early days – Rodgers and Hammerstein.

Depending on my mood on any given day, I can listen to anything from Mozart to Motorhead, & so thanks to my parents I grew up with this, & numerous other Rogers & Hammerstein soundtracks (King & I, Carousel, South Pacific etc.) Very important sounds for me as a child in the mid to late 60's. Thanks Dad.
