i know this is a video for street view/geoguessr lovers…but anything else you'd like to learn the secret economics of? i talked to a ton of people for this and it was pretty fun – would like to do it again.

You know what would be a great idea? A map with the public restrooms! Last summer, as a family with two small boys, we traveled in Italy, took a beautiful hike, but, man, could we not find a restroom when we needed it most!

it's a little sad to see all these efforts go into a proprietary project like google maps, as it is up to google to do what they want with it in the end. on the other hand it probably is unlikely that all of those who put a lot of money into for marketing purposes would also invest in an open source project, that may not be as shiny and polished due to it being more of an communal effort…

For me is impossible to have a positive final. All this data handed to one corp. A lot of nice projects, but a only think about the data sovereign and the capacity to lost everything one day.

So…getting scary at the end when this tech is used to figure out rental values! We need to stop monopolizing rental housing for commodification!!! People deserve an affordable place to live and deserve rental housing that is well upkept and maintained for human occupation. This tech could be used just like landlords are using 'Realpage'.

You threw me into a rabbit hole with the man on the portrait. I instantly recognized the language – Bulgarian. But then I saw the location – Ukraine. The reason instantly clicked. These obscure details and bits and pieces of information geek me out. Thanks.

Just imagine all of this will be removed soon. All the pictures of a world thats gone will not be able for the people in the future.
Just imagine if you had street view of 16th century…

At wife has a disability. She wears prosthetic legs, and can walk about 80 feet every 10 minutes. She also has arm amputations. Most of the time when we are out and about she uses a power wheelchair. Her power wheelchair uses lithium batteries and can go over grass and compacted dirt, but not tree roots. But the walking a bit while holding onto my arm means she can go up wide stairs, or very narrow stairs where she can touch both walls, but not ladders. I then go back and carry her power wheelchair. Tree roots on trails are the main gotcha. It is wonderful to find that someone has posted videos or photos of a wheelchair user getting to an off road location that we may attempt later.
