The Inside Story of All in the Family: The Rise, Fall, and Afterlife of the Bunkers

Matt Baume | January 5, 2025

All in the Family is one of the most controversial shows ever broadcast. It featured a typical American family, arguing over topics that most other shows didn’t dare go near, and shocked America as well as the network executives who tried to do everything they could to stop it. But while Archie, Edith, Mike, and Gloria were busy making TV history, behind-the-scenes feuds threatened to tear the cast apart — culminating in off-screen fights that nearly led to the death of two beloved characters. This is the story of All in the Family and the Bunkers — the rise and fall and rise again a family that changed America.
