The Crazy True Story Of The First Plastic Surgery In History

Nowadays, plastic surgery is seen as a pretty basic, relatively safe procedure – but that hasn’t always been the case. The first plastic modern advanced surgery on record was performed during World War I, and at the time, it was very risky and nearly killed the man who went under the knife.
Walter Yeo was injured in battle and would have had to live out the rest of his life with a severely marred face if it hadn’t been for one daring doctor by the name of Sir Harold Gillies. Together, the two of them would attempt a completely revolutionary surgery that would give Yeo back his life (and his face), and secure Gillies a place in the history books.

I feel a little guilty about all the focus on the narrator but I am very curious what's going on and what this transition to other narrators has been like for the people behind the videos.

إنها أفضل من العمليات التي يتم فيها استبدال الوجه بوجه احد المتبرعين ، والسبب أنها من نفس جلد وبشرة المريض .

Who's played Bioshock? The designers studied these early reconstructive surgery photos to create Splicers.

The title should've been "The First Western/European Plastic Surgery"
The first plastic surgery was in 800 BC by the Hindu surgeon Sushruta. He reconstructed a nose using a piece of cheek.

Those of us who have children with craniofacial issues, are familiar with this awsome man. Well I am speaking for myself I guess, because he and his doctor came up in my reseach. My son's face was peeled back during surgery. Yeo paved the way for such proceedures. Drs. Have learned to do this type of thing without flaw. ❤

Facial reconstruction does have it's limits, which is why face transplants are becoming a thing.

Perfect timing! I'm about to undergo plastic reconstruction surgery on my face after half my nose was removed due to cancer, which will involve a tubed pedicle from my forehead. Extremely interesting, thank you for the video.
