The Biggest Lie About Carbon Capture

AsapSCIENCE | October 29, 2024

Carbon capture technology, if done wrong could make climate change worse. New carbon capture trains are a brilliant idea, using caught CO2 to frack for more oil, NOT A BRILLIANT IDEA. In this video we explain why the insane engineering of carbon capture could be a really bad thing!

While people are talking about James Corden, Adele, hockey, the Leafs, we are thinking about Carbon Capture. The science, the engineering and the physics of how it all works.

More co2 might just lead to more thriving ecosystems plant and crop bonanza. We are still coming out of the last ice age. People still freeze to death all the time. I don't see anyone bursting into flames. You don't think all that gas you pump in the ground won't find its way back to the surface anyway. I think you got it all wrong. It is a hysteria a mental illness all this geoenginering is going to do more damage than anything else. I'll stick with gas power myself. Aren't we carbon based lifeforms anyway? Bring back the carboniferous lets live in a greenhouse. I want no part of a younger dryas waistland

1930's was one of the hottest decades in history. Carbon dioxide was 10 times higher in the distance past from volcanic and under the sea methane vents. How did all that happen and it is hardly ever mentioned. The climate is changing, has been changing since FOREVER. At least 4 known ice ages ebbing and flowing. The oceans have risen close to 400 feet in 15,000 years. Ice shelves were 5000 feet deep across northern USA. 150 cities are buried in the Mediterranean. I want to protect mother earth, sincerely I do, BUT CAPTURING CARBON HERE WHILE CHINA IS SPEWING IT OUT AT 3 TIMES THE RATE IS A FOOLS ERAND. NICE TRY
ROBERT KENNEDY SAYS, FIX THE SOIL, FIX THE OCEANS, QUIT POISONING NATURAL FILTERING SYSTEMS AND MOVE TO GREEN SLOWLY WITHOUT CHOPPING OFF OUR HEADS.

Plant forests, not trees. If you use a tree to make furniture, or a house, that carbon is locked up for possibly several hundred years. Don't throw out broken wooden furniture, put it back into the forest to decompose, or use if for heating/cooking if it isn't toxic.

Just shut tf up oil people. The lime capture thing takes about half the energy released of burning oil, and oil energy use isn't even close to 50% efficient. They're just ponzi scheming here. Burn and get sales now, and the public then has to pay that back twice.

The only way to allow this kind of narrative would be, right now, to put a $3 tax per gallon of gas and every other fossil fuel which then goes into a capture fund. Since that is never going to happen just stop drilling.

What is going to replace fossil fuel? Where is plastic going to come from and the planet is a carbon base planet how can you possible think that man can change that? What do you plan on doing if a bunch of volcano's go off????

High energy density alternatives need to be solved to rule out hydrocarbons. Transport is the world’s biggest energy challenge. Solar and ccs are only part a solution. No real analysis is this video, and the youtuber presents niche technology as if there’s a ubiquitous application. A lot of half baked thoughts in this video.

They should reuse hydroelectric plants to power stations like these, while moving the grid towards Nuclear energy. Also, to those in the comments section berating carbon capture technology, I would point out that no amount of trees is going to capture all the carbon we burned from deposits in which it was stored safely for millennia. One plant over a short period of time won’t fix the problem, but it’s a start

0:38 time traveller from Croatia 2024. 2 heatwaves in a row, a stom in Fall 2023 causing me to get wet to my underwear, my mom's beans and potatoes were wrecked with temperatures reaching up to 39°C, around 10 deaths from heat stroke and 2 flashing downpours with winds sounding like Hulk blowing a whistle.

At the heart of it there should be two questions:
    1) Is it economical? I'm guessing it's not as economical as other technologies, but the techno-economic analysis needs to be done.
    2) Is it scalable? Again, I'm guessing not, because there are only so many trains running and only so much braking that needs to be done.
If it is cheap enough, just go ahead and do it. However, realize that because the scale is not large you won't save the world with this, but if you get 1,000 or 10,000 or these ideas with good economics, just do all of them and you'll make a good dent. Good luck to you and your ideas.

I mean the train capture is the stupidest idea ive ever heard of . There is no excess energy in the train; u need energy to move it. That electricity should be put back in the motor rather than going to multiple state changes which increase the loss. Not to mention that you will destroy the aerodynamics with that duct.

To an extent that planting trees is a much better idea . T

Thats what happens when u identify the opinion u want to reach and then anlyse.

The state of Louisiana is injecting millions of tons of co2 byproducts in old abandoned oil wells under our water source. They will make billions of dollars in the next 10 years then leave these small communities to deal with future water contamination. 🙁

2 questions for the admin of this page

    1. What is your creative solution for this problem?

    2. Why didn't you mention using Co2 for the process of photosynthesis in greenhouses, which is a very important issue

. . . uh, please, consider the physics people. Use the energy to displace fossil fuel consumption and leave the carbon safely locked away in the first place. Plus, that train thing is surely an investment scam.
