Sundara Karma Announces Heartfelt Farewell After 12-Year Journey with Special UK Shows

Sundara Karma, the British indie band that forged a distinctive sound and a loyal following over the past decade, has delivered the bittersweet news that they will disband after a remarkable twelve-year run. Taking to Instagram on September 23rd, the band shared their heartfelt message—an emotional farewell that signifies the closing of a significant chapter in their lives and musical career.

"One of the hardest decisions we’ve ever had to make," the band confessed. They reflected on the incredible journey that began in their school days, driven by dreams and creativity. "This journey has been nothing short of incredible! As we’ve grown, so have our hopes and dreams, and we’re ready to explore new things," they wrote. The members emphasized that this isn’t an end to music entirely; rather, it is a new beginning, a transition away from the Sundara Karma name as they pursue individual paths.

Over the years, Sundara Karma has captured hearts with their vibrant sound and poignant lyrics, marking their territory in the indie rock scene. Their debut album, Youth Is Only Ever Fun In Retrospect (2017), burst onto the scene with infectious energy and thought-provoking themes. The band’s artistic evolution continued with Ulfilas’ Alphabet (2019) and, most recently, Better Luck Next Time (2023), which showcased their growth and maturity as musicians.

As they prepare to say goodbye, Sundara Karma will embark on a farewell tour across the UK this December, performing at iconic venues in Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, and London. Their final shows promise to be emotional celebrations of their journey together, and the band expressed deep gratitude toward their fans: "To every fan who came to our shows, listened to our music, or supported us in any way—thank you. You’ve been with us through it all, and we’ll forever be grateful."

Tickets for these monumental shows will go on sale this Friday, September 27th, at 10 AM, and are sure to sell out quickly as fans eager to witness the band’s closing performances flock to claim their spot.

The farewell dates are as follows:

  • December 1, 2024: Glasgow, O2 Academy
  • December 3, 2024: Liverpool, O2 Academy
  • December 4, 2024: Manchester, O2 Ritz
  • December 8, 2024: London, O2 Forum Kentish Town

As Sundara Karma prepares to leave the stage, they invite fans to join them in celebrating not just a band, but a constellation of memories forged together. As their poignant lyrics and pulsating rhythms echo in the hearts of many, the legacy of Sundara Karma will undoubtedly live on, eternally intertwined with the soundtracks of their listeners’ lives. Music may be changing for them, but the bond they’ve built will always remain unbreakable.
