Hey Finn, not sure if you were planning on doing a final video at all but for a proper send-off I think it would be cool if you made a “The Strange History of Finn McKenty” video to wrap things up and serve as a final installment. Give us an autobiography and examine “What is my lasting legacy?” here on YT. It would serve as a proper book-end after all the happiness and laughs you’ve brought your viewers over the years.

Was this video an MBA swan song? I just realized I haven't seen him in my feed for a while and sure enough, he has taken a perilous, algorithm debilitating month long sabbatical. I don't always agree with Finn, (however, when I do, like in the case of agreeing on the significance of the Beach Boys, you little whipper snappers should take notice) but I hope he's okay 🤘

This isn’t just an issue in Rock culture. This is an issue all over the entertainment industry. I think the problem is that Hollywood is doing stuff now that people have ZERO emotional connection to. A perfect example of this is the new Linkin Park. Most of their fans (myself included) didn’t grow up with Emily Armstrong, we grew up with Chester.

I love music from the 60’s to the now and I think Greta Van Fleet and the Warning and Ghost bands like this ARE doing new things and Maybe that ‘s why I doesn’t sound interesting to you lol back in the sixties those experimental sounds didn’t sound interesting to most people over 30. Do I think Greta Van Fleet is ground breaking? No. But are they boring conceptually and formally? Absolutely not they are very talented and creative. They started as a Led Zeppelin wanna be band that I had 0 interest in, and I think they’ve really transformed into their own and when I saw them live I remember thinking: this is the most amazing live show I’ve seen is this what it felt like for people to see those big rock bands in the 70’s and 80’s? Because it felt like I was watching something very special. Ghost is the most creative concept I’ve seen in a long time 😂 but not ground breaking instrumentally no. So I agree rock is running out of that “fresh feel” but I don’t think the new bands coming out are boring at all. They still fight the powers that be and that’s pretty rock n roll to me! Ghost is hilarious, smart for making YouTube a huge part of their schtick, and so entertaining!

Enjoy your disguise retirement with your wife and your kid Finn. I know your time as a rock, metal, punk content creator is over but I've moved on to other genres already anyway.

I really don't even listen any new music either from new or legacy artists, mostly everything just sounds so derivative of something that came before or with legacy artists, it never measures up to the material they did early in their career and their prime, that's just my opinion

To me this sounds like an iteration of the argument that art must keep marching on and “progress “. The idea that art must do this suggests that it has a fixed goal or endpoint. But towards what exactly? Art isn’t like technology, where progress is measurable (e.g., faster computers, better medicine). In music and art, the value comes from expression, connection, and experience. What’s important isn’t just what’s "new," but what resonates with people in different ways, whether it’s new or old. The idea of infinite innovation for its own sake is a fallacy.

Im listening to music whilst typing and thusly am affected. Sorry for the length I got mad love for you and what you do, too much hate in the world.

Older fellas like me are trapped in their generation and happy to be there. You can always go back further but rarely do you go forward. I wont say that today's music sucks because they said that when I was young when a great decade of music was being made. But I cant say I've heard anything that "hooked" me. I'm still waiting.

Have you checked out the genre of digital hardcore lately? I'm an old punk and have been getting bored with what's been coming out of the punk scene lately. So I've been listening to bands like n8noface, ho99o9, and lust sick puppy in the digital hardcore genre. Check it out.

Gojira is definitely a newer, interesting, heavy, sick vibe to rock that is so great to hear right now. I thought rock was dead years ago and found them and they have become one of my favorite bands!
