People are going to be angry about pylons.

Britain’s power grid is turning inside-out, which means pylons are about to become a lot more controversial in Britain. At the National Grid Training Centre, I climbed one. ■ The “Great Grid Upgrade”: https://www.nationalgrid.com/the-great-grid-upgrade
National Grid also asked if I’d plug their Early Careers page, for anyone in the UK thinking of joining the industry: https://jobs.nationalgrid.com/UK/content/Early-careers/

I thought pylon was a person's name since I watched jojo's bizzare adventure part 4. Turns out it was the tower. Thank you for the info

People don't like transmission towers (pylons) but do like electricity at affordable prices
@pahom2

It is demagogue. The decision is to spend more on an underground infrastructure or pay less and build pylons. It is not about power or no power.

Just about a month ago or so they were working on these "pylons" or as we call them in the states "Power Towers". Coolest thing was that they actually bring the workers to the towers by Helicopter. They would hang from the bottom of the helicopter with all their tool bags and those ladders and fly them over and drop them off onto the towers and would move them from tower to tower. The helicopter would then fly over to where all the glass isolators were staged, pick up materials and supplies, fly them to the workers and repeat.
I noticed on these pylons they only have 1 set of the glass isolators. The same thing is true for our towers that they just worked on. So I guess that both the US and Britain are doing the same tasks currently.

there won't be any decisions about Pylons, imagine they tell the nation "you're getting underground cabling and it's going to quadruple your electricity bill because we need the power companies to fund it, or you can pay 5% more tax and the government will fund it!" 😀 lmao never happening.

nice smile on their face as they say the gov wasted BILLIONS on pouring into projects that NEVER CONNECTED UP and will never be maintained and WILL BE DECOMMISSIONED before they are even CONNECTED and you all pay for that.
