Native Bidaské: Barriers for Native Voters Ahead of 2026 Election
Native voters face significant barriers throughout the voting process, and new data shows just how persistent those challenges remain.
On this episode of Native Bidaské, host Levi Rickert speaks with Jacqueline De León of the Native American Rights Fund (NARF) and Dr. Megan Gall, Principal at Blockwell Consulting, about voting access in Indian Country and what Native voters should know heading into the 2026 election.
A new NARF report, Obstacles Persist, examines barriers Native voters face from voter registration and mail-ballot requests to ballot rejection and voter-roll maintenance.

Among the findings discussed:
• Mail-ballot rejections increased 224% from 2020 to 2024.
• 87% of voter-roll confirmation notices in Indian Country were reported as undeliverable, compared with 11% nationally.
• There were more than 800 fewer voting opportunities in Indian Country than in surrounding areas.
• Addressing challenges, postal service issues and limited voting opportunities can create additional barriers for Native voters.
The conversation also examines recent court decisions surrounding mail-in voting and the uncertainty those developments could create for Native voters.

Native Americans just might be, the dumbest race in all of humanity.
So full of hate. So busy killing each other's tribes. Solidarity never crossed their stupid minds.
Let white man take their land. With horses, homefield advantage, and ten times the population.
Reduced to alcoholics, on shitty reservations.
Invented a communication system, that only gave away their geographic location.
While 80% of smoke signals never reached their intended destination.
Native Americans are the only race that doesn't use deception as a war tactic.
Everybody else wears camouflage, to not be seen. Indians dress-up like a peacock in heat.
No sneak-up on the enemy. No surprise attack. You can hear their: Woo Woo Woo from 3 miles back.
I attended an Indian Pow Wow advertising authentic Native American cuisine.
My daughter said: What's that, government peanut butter and cheese?
Had a Native American supervisor, at a company golf outing once.
I had to muck-up my drives, because of Big Chief Shank-a-Lot.
And that Crazy Horse sculpture in South Dakota ….. It isn't ever getting done.
Been working on it, since 1931.
