My Second Favourite: Fontaines D.C.

This week, I’m reviewing Favourite by Fontaines D.C. I was asked to do this by you – my dear YouTube viewers – in the Comments section. I do read them you know.

It actually (to me) sounds a bit like Johnny Marr's work with The Cribs on the, Ignore The Ignorant album.

I've watched two of these now and I actually dislike this format … all the starting and stopping

Smashing pumpkins 1975 is a good song to compare this to. Repetitive, yet timeless.

Justin have a listen to Wunderhorse. Teal’s a good place to start but have a deep dive they’re gonna be huge. Plus their frontman Jacob Slater has a mind blowing solo album if the bands discography isn’t enough

This sounds exactly like (British) Sea Power, in the best possible way. Are you not aware of this wonderful band?

Justin, I just discovered you when you reviewed Starburster as I am a huge fan of Fontaines DC.
I’m an American, and I’m sorry to say The Darkness hadn’t reached my ears until recently. My (British) beau, himself a musician (and a friend of the dad of The Darkness’s drummer) told me about you, so I’ve been devouring your interviews. We’ve been watching your interviews, disquisitions, and deconstructions, and are thoroughly enjoying them and yourself. Your erudition! Your humour! Your cheekiness! Your knowledge of musical theory, your stellar guitar playing (not to mention those 5 little octaves) are brilliant! Thoroughly enjoying you, sir, and I hope you continue your YouTube shows, as they are thoroughly enjoyable! Cheers!

I agree with all of that, but to me this sounds more like one of my favorite bands called DIIV! I would love to hear his take on this band!

The second half of the riff sounds a bit like the old Goal of the Month music on Match of the Day. I think?

Mr Hawkins! This is totally off-topic, but I just watched a reaction to 'Fight The Good Fight' by Triumph, on the Redheaded Neighbor channel, and she said singer/guitarist Rik Emmett reminded her of you! 😁
