To be fair, I work professionally as a private math tutor… and when I get a new student, I do some evaluation with them, and I do like to reassure them that math isn’t really so hard once you understand it. I’ll even sometimes ask what is confusing about a specific issue. But it’s all about the delivery and actually attempting to help rather than just telling them to figure it out.

@15:54 – I doubt anyone will read this but what strikes me as hokie about this movie is the sound recording. Specifically highlighted by the obvious sound-booth voice-over of the dog talking. The rest of the movie has the echo of a cheap room and low-budget sound recording devices. To be frank – when I first heard the dog talking, I though you and your wife were editing in a bit in post. The fact that they recorded the movie this way is priceless.

I didn’t read through all 8,000 comments but for the stunt double driving the car, that is a union rule and no actor is allowed to drive a vehicle themselves unless they are a stunt driver. It’s ridiculous because there are movies with pro racing drivers and they aren’t allow to drive their own vehicles, they have to be driven on a trailer or by a hidden driver somewhere else in the vehicle.

There is not such a rule for hanging off a trolley wearing flip flops so that is cool.

WAIT… I LIVE NEAR THAT MALL IN OHIO. I'VE BEEN SHOPPING THERE SINCE I WAS A KID. I'VE BEEN ON THE ELF TRAIN.
btw calling the lodi outlet mall a mall is EXTREMELY generous, it's a rapidly failing outlet center and I think the only thing of value left in it is an aeropostale. there used to be a bass and a fudge shop and stuff but now its main claim to fame is that it's right at the entrance to I-95 and there's a food court. I think they stopped running the train even though the train is on all of their very sad merchandising. so that's how the mall is doing

Well, yeah, you shouldn’t hit your kid. You can still discipline children without hitting them. Was that really all that Mom was going to do? Spank the kid? Good thing they put that rule in place, if so. Some people just do not understand what parenting means. And corporal punishment is abuse.

I was drinking water at 13:53 and I almost started choking when the teacher stumbled over her line, like why did they choose to use that footage?? it also looks like she’s reading her very simple lines off a piece of paper, it’s so fucking funny

1:34 okay that woman was clearly about to hit her kid right? so in this universe, they didn’t ’ban discipline’; they just banned…child abuse? how is that bad 💀💀

edit: 2:54 ah yes, because anyone who doesn’t participate in organized religion has no moral compass whatsoever ☺️ what an absolute gem of a film

edit 2: 22:25 i genuinely thought this movie was gonna turn suddenly religious like the last one but it seems like god just…never comes up again ? what purpose was that plot point meant to serve? why did the filmmakers make such a point of allie praying for obie’s safe return when they could’ve just omitted it entirely and not damaged the story at all?

edit 3: 26:25 uh. do they ever explain why the grandpa can’t go? i think he might actually be dead RIP

    okay i’ll shut up now

Okay, but the rare shows on prime video are honestly the best- psych during around 2005- 2010 (ish) is one of my favorite shows bc it’s a comedy mixed with a mystery, and it’s not the same thing over and over again with most shows, the main character is pretending to be a psychic detective for reasons explained in the first episode it’s genuinely a rlly good concept and all the the characters are so good, and have a billion references to other classic movies like holes and john Hugh’s movies (so random I love it, but that’s the whole point of the show)

I think the only reason they had to get a stunt driver for the 3 point turn scene in summertime christmas, is because the actor of Elwood didn’t know how to drive a manual

Chris Colubmus did go on a wild adventure- before america he went to Asia where he made up stories of monsters he saw and wrote an almost completely fictionalized version of it as "Wild travelogues" were popular at the time. The literary genre is basically if National Treasure was presented as a documentary when in reality you just drove to DC to look at it.
