You are a great storyteller and do a fantastic job. I love your enthusiasm for old music. I'm a 67-year-old Brit. Although I loved the Layla single the rest of the album sounded old and tired to my teenage friends and me. I liked Live Cream Volume #2 and was hoping for more of the same. Tom Dowd's productions had a thin guitar sound which I disliked. It was thin compared to the music recorded in London by Zeppelin, Purple, Floyd, Who, Stones and Sabbath. Clapton continued with his Americana dad-rock sound for the rest of his career and found an audience in the US. Good luck to him. I never play this album.

After several years, I finally added Layla to my music collection. Now granted, it's in CD form, but at least it's in my collection. And I'll soon be adding it to my 256gb iPod classic.

Didn't like your borderline put down of Led Zep IV – stupid unreal reviews. Makes me wonder whether you are actually listening to anything at all but your own opinions – nitwit.

All I can say about Patti Boyde is that she must have had a LOT of charisma, b/c while she was pretty, she wasn't, like, THAT pretty.
Also, "Prisoners?" (If you know you know)

I really loved the story you told about this album and everything around it. Always liked the Layla song, but now I love it. Had it on some cd single with Wonderful Tonight, but now I need this album, on vinyl of course. And it is because of what you did with this LONG video. It was well worth the time and it makes me buy this record.
As others said, it is so refreshing and encouraging to see people from your generation (and I got my 19 year old son buying records and cd's now) going through over half a decade of beautiful music and experiencing it all again. Plus you really do your homework. Respect for that!

a video of yours talking about "the west coast pop art experimental band" (god, i love this name) would be really interesting to see
it's a plea, please make a video about the first album of the west coast pop art experimental band in the return of vinyl mondays

Abby, there’s one person who needs a return to the Vinyl Monday universe: Bob Dylan

The "best sounding" version of Layla I have heard is probably the old Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs gold CD. I recently bought their 2017 vinyl pressing, and it seemed to me not quite as good. I haven't compared them, though. By "best sounding" I don't mean sanitized. I mean that it sounds like you're in the room with the band, and you can crank it up without fatigue.
P.s. audiophiles are indeed a strange breed, as an admitted member of the community myself.

1:01:05 How does this comment about the organ into a Leslie cabinet tie into your comparison of the rhythm sections of Cream and the Dominos? Am I missing something?

Hi there, Love Your Videos! since you covered There’s A Riot Goin’ On and A Love Supreme, it would be cool to see you tackle my personal favorite Miles Davis project – the ‘On The Corner’ trilogy consisting of “On The Corner”, “Big Fun”, and “Get Up With It” (Bonus points for delving into the live albums) Beware though, you’re in for 32 minute long sides that WILL end up with you crip walking through your music room. I hope you enjoy your break too btw.

Machine Head by Deep Purple was a very eventful problem. That would make a great Vinyl Monday!

my upteenth comment, This album is more or less personal to me too, given my harsh situation in life that i’ve been dealt. I don’t really want to go into it, lots or personal stuff. Let’s just say this album emphasizes everything that has ever happened to me. 😢 I lived this over and over and over again. now i’m 54 and it’s like…”screw it, i’ll stay single all my life since that’s what everyone seems to want, i’m used to it anyways.” that’s just the surface… anyway that’s why i couldn’t give you a proper comment on this album. It’s basically about wanting a woman a man knows he can never have, and i lived it over and over and over and over infinity again.

All i can say, Olivia came at the perfect time… Thank you Herb Alpert! She was his secretary when George met her… (I think George’s “Dark Horse” should be on your list, it’s far from his best but George was far from OK at the time… i hate the think what would’ve happened to George if he never met Olivia… again thank you, Herb Alpert even though it was unintentional. I hope you cover that story…(BTW, Olivia is dating Steve Perry of Journey now)
