The Roc Nation mogul, born Shawn Carter, claims that the accuser has continued to make damaging public statements about him, despite voluntarily dismissing her sexual assault lawsuit earlier this year.
The lawsuit stems from a revised complaint filed by Doe, who accused Jay-Z of raping her alongside Sean Combs at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty when she was just 13. In a striking TikTok post from April 11, the accuser provocatively declares, “You couldn’t pay me a million dollars to get an apology video out of me, I stand on what I said, fuck you.” Jay-Z’s amended complaint underscores that these statements perpetuate a "shocking and reckless disregard for the truth."
Carter asserts that Doe’s lack of remorse and persistence in making false claims highlights her "malicious intent," saying that her allegations were baseless and reckless. The amended complaint also stresses that her public statements have caused significant damage to both his reputation and Roc Nation’s financial prospects. Jay-Z claims that as a direct result of these unproven allegations, he has suffered immense financial setbacks, including a forfeited $55 million credit line and a denied $115 million loan.
Buzbee, the high-profile attorney representing Jane Doe, dismisses Jay-Z’s lawsuit as “meritless.” In a pointed rebuttal, he raised eyebrows with a new accusation: Jay-Z’s claims of Wikipedia tampering, alleging that Buzbee directed his employees to edit the online encyclopedia to bolster his image and damage Jay-Z’s reputation. Buzbee dismissed this accusation as “incredibly weak.”
The ongoing feud escalated last November when Carter first sued Buzbee and his law firm, stating that the lawyer knowingly propagated lies by linking him to Doe’s allegations.
