Is Operation Ivy the best ska-punk band ever?

Tome | February 9, 2025

Operation Ivy, born in ’87, straight outta Berkeley, California, was the heartbeat of Lookout Records, unleashing the fierce “East Bay Sound.”

Their name? Inspired by those nuclear tests in ’52. They dropped just one full album, “Energy,” and then called it quits in ’89. But man, their legacy? Still fuels Rancid today. They molded the ska wave’s soul and left their mark on countless other bands.
