I love your videos. But I have a question that I think would be neat to see a video on. How do hormones take part in weight loss comparing different exercises? As I've been learning about how CICO isn't accurate to describe weight gain/loss from our diet, it made me wonder if the same is true for different forms of exercise. I saw an interview of a cardiologist who stated that cardio is a very inefficient way of losing weight and instead resistance training will get you much further. His explanation was based on calories burned and our bodies response to the different exercise types. But he never mentioned hormones. It seems to me that like diet, hormones are likely a huge aspect of exercise weight loss efficiency as well but we are still stuck in the CICO mindset. What do you think?

I think BMI is stupid. I used to lift weights and was very muscular and lean but BMI said I was borderline obese! I think obesity has an addiction element and a coping strategy for stress. Not too mention the vast amounts of highly processed food we consume in this country!

I'm the daughter of an obese man and a former anorexic mother. Growing up, I was heavier set, but now I much more closely resemble my mother (dropped from 190lbs to 155 lbs, athletic build). I think more often than not people want to blame their biology, when in reality, they just grew up not knowing how to eat well and not taught any self control. And I'm not belittling that. Conquering self-control and trying to understand proper diet as an adult, especially for your activity level and body type, is extremely difficult. You essentially have to rewire your brain and teach yourself brand new habits. There's no perfect diet or book made specifically for your biological build, you just have to figure it out.
And BMI is bullshit. It doesn't account for how much of your weight is muscle or anything that actually matters. People who actually want to lose weight in a sustainable way should talk to a dietitian. If you're doing everything you should and nothing changes, then it might be a hormonal imbalance. But you won't know until you've tried.

As a light 60kg- 5f10 in an obese family, either there isn't a gene or I'm an outlier. I think in my opinion it's based on what you do and your metabolism.
