I have learned so many new bands and expanded genres in my already bulging niche tastes.
Pete is the main reason, and his different crews of music lovers, musicians and such, also have flooded my mind and ears with excellent music choices.
    Thanks!

My music collection expanded massively after SOT’s influence!
    My 5 artists/ genres would be :
1 Italian prog generally of which my favourite is Semiramis.
    2 70’s progressive rock rarities eg Comus/ Armageddon /Mainhorse
    3 IQ – whole catalogue
4 The Flower Kings – whole catalogue.
    5 Brand x – a band I had forgotten about
    Plus many others
Thank you Pete and the wider SOT contributors 👍🎵🎸

IMO the coolest thing Pete / SoT has done is ranking the whole discography of so many bands. He's made me check out mid or late period albums of artists that I wouldn't have otherwise. He puts in so much work!

SoT rarely covers the stuff I grew up on (punk, post-punk, indie, hardcore, industrial), but if y'all are thinking of branching out into new territory, please DM me…

I’ve been listening since 2022 and have discovered so many amazing bands, thanks to Pete. My wife not happy with my cd shelf lol but I’m very pleased to have been opened up to such great music. Standout discoveries: Allan Holdsworth, Camel, Allman Brothers, Robin Trower, Rush and Death
    Loved this episode. Thanks lads.

First and foremost Pete/SoT has kind of rekindled my interest in prog rock. For example, I had a couple of Gentle Giant albums in the 1990s but later sold them. After hearing them being praised so much on the channel, I started to collect their albums (again) and I'm glad I did too; e.g. Three Friends has lately become one of my favorite albums of all-time. From other genres, Blue Öyster Cult and Robin Trower come to mind. Oh, and I got the Chicago Transit Authority CD only because Pete chose it as his #1 '60s favorite. I don't rate it quite as high as that, but it's excellent for sure. The Contrarians probably have had some influence on my taste and choices in recent years too.

Pete didn’t turn me on to any bands or albums. However, I subscribed to the channel because of his passion for music, even if I don’t like heavy metal, hard rock, prog rock or jazz/fusion very much. It’s his positivity, integrity and enthusiasm for what we all love that makes me want to watch his videos all the time.

Discovered and started watching during covid because before that I was out of touch with new music, new releases and was looking for new things to listen to. If only I knew then what that was going to cost,🤣 many new bands ,and dipped into new genres prog and prog metal mainy, even old ‘legacy’ bands with great new catalogues that in some cases I didn’t even realise they were still putting out high quality music., to try and to listen to.

Anyway a list of just a few of the the highlights only

Savatage, Cats In Space,Chicago,Dixie Dregs,Dream Theater,Fates Warning,Ghost, IQ, Jethro Tull,Arena,Magic Pie, Presto Ballet, Saga, Threshold,

    Spocks Beard,Vanden Plas.

Bands with great new catalogues I‘d forgotten about.

Europe, Saxon, Styx, Kansas, Queensryche, Magnum.Fish

And honestly that’s just scratching the surface, Pete and SOT in general has made music fresh and exciting for me in my latter years. I’m forever grateful.

After pretty much every episode of Sea of Tranquility and The Prog Corner, I have more bands and albums I want to check out. But life is too short—I won’t even get around to half of them!

I was out thrifting & found a Wobbler CD & thought to myself why does sound so familiar then it hit me Pete talked about the band a few days before & I turned it over saw the songs were long & had to have it after hearing it at home I went down the Rabbit Hole. Now as for Cats in Space I have a good friend that turned me on to the band, but little did he know it was their second Album & I in turn got him the first Album. Nov.6th Cats in Space new 7th Album SUIT of Armour is coming out. My friend was a big fan of Pets show like I am, but I am sad to say he passed away last year. Peat has turned me on a lot of old bands that I didn't know about from back in the day & a lot of new bands to & I got too know about you 3 guys trough Pete. Great tribute to him & great show. I would love to see more & with Peter on as well.

Pete got me into something that I was always looking for but didn’t know what it was😁: psychedelic/stoner rock/doom ie. Heavy Psych Sounds. And I am loving it. Thank you Pete. You rock!

I started watching SoT right before Covid hit. The reason? I saw this guy with a wall of CDs behind him – looked like he was sitting in my living room! I just had to click, and I’ve been watching the channel daily since. And I’ve bought hundres of CD and Blu-ray’s because of Pete and SoT – we also share a taste in movies! This channel has cost me a lot through the years😅

I knew Kansas from 'Dust In the Wind', which was a hit in Europe at the time and I hated the song and forgot the band for years. Pete Pardo kept on talking about that band with such accolades, that finally I decided to dive into their work and I must admit I'm a fan now. SOT is my favorite YouTube Channel and I love shows like The UK Connection, In The Prog Seat and The Hudson Valley Squares. I really hope Pete gets trough this ordeal and keeps inspiring people.

I now listen to the following largely due to Pete. Styx, Kansas, Blue Oyster Cult, Outlaws, Molly Hatchett, .38 Special, Budgie, Dream Theater, Govt Mule, Leslie West, Robin Trower, Y & T, Telsa, Yngwie Malmsteen Mountain and Warren Haynes. Thanks Pete.

I think the first unknown band that i got from Pete and really liked was Wobbbler.
And the SOT/Pete band i never heard of and has been on most regular rotation is Blackfoot.
SOT was mostly instrumental in giving me the nudge to check out 70's and 80's hardrock/metal stuff i've heard of but never took time to listen to.
And sometimes it made me reevaluate bands (man i used to have the wrong Y&T albums).
But what i love about Pete is that he keeps on reviewing new young bands and albums and liking it.
I've been in the stoner/psych deep dive since 2007 and it was fun to see him become a fan of bands i already loved.

Thank you, Pete, for all that you do.
Here's some bands that I wouldn't be listening to if it wasn't for Pete's videos
    1. King Crimson – I didn't like them at first, but Pete's passion for them kept me coming back to them and it all clicked after I listened to Lark's Tongues in Aspic
    2. Candlemass – I really wasn't into doom much and finally after Pete's Doom starter pack videos I dove in deeper and started to come around. Now I love it.
    3. Blue Oyster Cult – I knew their hits, but Pete's passion for this band got me to dive deeper and now I love them.
    4. Genesis – Of course I knew who this band was, but I only listed to their radio hits from the 80's. I did like the songs, but being a metalhead never wanted to buy anything from them. I also knew growing up that Peter Gabriel was once in the band, but that's all anyone would ever say and I was never curious to look up the older stuff until watching Pete's videos on them. I love them now, but still need more time with them to soak it all up.

The great part about watching Sea of Tranquility videos is that I get to discover older albums that I probably should have been listening to all this time.

Pete has introduced me to a myriad of bands, but more importantly he got me to revisit alot of music I had left behind. The SF.Sorrow album, Psychotic Waltz, The Weird Lord Slough Feg and deep diving into Renaissance. Our ages are similar. so our musical paths have alot of similar touchstones and highlights that allow me to easily trust his opinion on newer bands and legacy acts. Thank You,, Pete.

Some obscure albums Pete and the channel has turned me on to: Blues Pills (absolutely great band), England, High Tide, Highway Robbery, Orangutan, Sir Lord Baltimore, Steel Mill, Vintage Caravan, Wobbler AND the weirdest sounding band name of them all – "And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead". Try as I might, I can't get Kansas (I guess I heard Dust In The Wind too many times). Keep Well Pete

Pete and I were in the same Marvel comics group on Facebook around 2019. I would do a post about comics from my collection and Pete would make comments. Pete would do posts on comics from his collection and I would make comments. I honestly don't remember who started it, but we became Facebook friends after a while. Soon after that, the FB algo rhythm started showing me all of these music themed videos from Sea of Tranquility hosted by one Pete Pardo. I started watching and making comments as time permitted. Then around March of 2020, COVID hit and we were all staying home a lot and I watched SOT a lot more, commenting more and interacting with other viewers in the comments. When he did the Favorite Album by Year series every morning around May and June of 2020, it became regular viewing.

In December of 2020, after several months of commenting and interacting with Pete and others, Pete sent me a PM asking if I'd like to join him for a ranking of the top ten songs of the Allman Brothers Band. I jumped at the chance and had a great time doing the show with Pete, even though I was nervous about doing it. Later, he invited me to do other shows with other contributors and I never looked back after that.

Over the last six plus year, Pete has introduced me to many great bands that I may not have known or thought about otherwise. including: Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Dream Theater, Budgie, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Camel, Rival Sons, Gov't Mule and UFO, just to name a few.

On his Top Albums of 2020, Pete listed “Omens” by the band Elder. I sought it out and have loved Elder ever since. “Omens” and “Innate Passage” especially are on constant repeat. So many other bands, album reviews, ranking videos, etc. Pete is a major node in the musical universe!
