You couldn't pay me to walk out on that ice (which is melted on top) and stand next to that hole. The ice doesn't look too thick and I don't like to swim.

Hydrothermal vents would also act like "oasis' in the desert" for the many organisms that call it home. They already have high biodiversity. So it is highly likely that they would shelter the organisms from the worst of the freezing.
