The self-titled debut album by Glasgow post punk art rock band Franz Ferdinand, released in 2004, turns 20 this year! In this video, I take a look back at the seminal album by the artsy quartet in a documentary style album history. From exploring the cover art to touching on critical acclaim of the album and the five singles it produced — including “Darts of Pleasure,” the anthemic “Take Me Out,” and the shadowy “Dark of the Matinee.” I explore the band’s origins and influences, their namesake, all while pulling other albums from my record collection that have parallels to this LP.
